Post WW2 Walther P38 9mm Pistols with Aluminum Frames. The Carl Walther Company began the development of a new military pistol in the mid-1930s to replace the WW I Luger design. In 1938, the Wehrmacht adopted Walther's design and called it the "Pistole 38." The pistol went into full production by mid-1940 and became a standard issue in World War II. Although never as famous as the Luger pistol, the P38 was issued to far more troops.

When production was restarted after the war in May 1957 at Walther in Ulm, the pistol had undergone various modifications. The gun frame was now made of aluminum. Its surface was black anodized, which gave it a silk-matte finish. The grip plates were now made of modern plastic, black and checkered. The slide - as well as the pistol's barrel - was now parkerized. This particular lot of pistols were pre-graded before we received them with the importer declaring them to be in NRA surplus good condition. We would say that they were spot on and in fact, may have been a little hyper-critical in grading because these are in at least good condition with many to most probably qualifying as very good. As with any surplus expect to see some degree of external finish wear and maybe some light scratches... etc. But we have not seen any rust, the bores appear to be pretty good, and overall this is a fine-looking group of guns.

As surplus stocks around the world diminish and disappear, we consider ourselves very fortunate to be able to offer these here. Identical to the WW2 era P38 with the exception of an aluminum frame. Most of the pistols we have seen were manufactured in the early 1960s, although some are dated in the early 1970s. These pistols all ship with one 8-round magazine.
