One of my best camping accessories
I have three of the original versions, which do not have charge meters. These work superbly. I got one for my mom for power failures, and she has used it repeatedly and wants to get two more. I am going to give her two of mine, and she will buy me two of the small version, so I can save weight. Somebody wrote a bad review on the smal one, stating it did not charge well after one year. I work in solar and know that cells hate heat, and I also ruined my first Goal Zero solar charger by laying it on my dash in the summer. It must have been 125F degrees on that dash. Solar cells and lithium ion batteries HATE heat. I suspect that reviewer put it in a hot space to charge at least one time and ruined it. Now you know.
A Real Game Changer
I acquired three Luci Lights during my three months without power in the USVI following hurricanes Irma and Maria. They are well made and provided ample light to read at night. I would leave them out all day to charge and not worry if it rained as they are waterproof as well. Makes a great gift for friends and family who are into gadgets.
Fabulous light
Recently returned from a fishing trip to northern California. Late October so it got dark pretty early. Everyone was provided one of these by the outfitter for our camp use. An incredible item that will light up a large wall tent, weighs almost nothing, and produced way more light than my head lamp. A full charge lasted most of the week with 2-3 hours use per night. Just ordered three for the Florida hurricane season. Will probably order at least one of the USB charging models to keep the cell phone going during prolonged power outages.
Pretty awesome inflatable light
Pretty awesome inflatable light Pros * Fast charge * Long lasting light * Lightweight * Collapsible * Bright * Charge level indicator Cons * Won’t charge a phone back to full charge if needed We just got this light before our next camping trip and we were pretty impressed. They weigh hardly anything. If you are a hiker or backpacker this is a wonderful purchase. The solar panel is at the top of the light and can be hooked onto a backpack to charge while hiking. It has a charge level indicator which is really convenient to see how much it’s charged. On the low setting it puts out enough light to see to read or set up camp. The brightest setting is extremely bright! Which is great if playing a game at night or want to illuminate camp. The light works best when inflated. If I could find one fault, it might be that if you need to charge your phone it will do so just not to full battery. But great if need for emergency charge. I highly recommend this light.
Provides bright light
Wonderful lamp. Lightweight portable and waterproof
Best Lantern!
This was seriously the best purchase I made for a backpacking trip into the Grand Canyon, and honestly, just in general. It ran for hours while camping at the trailhead, clipped into the back of my SUV. I had some studying to do :( and it provided plenty of light to read. The next day on the trip in, I clipped it to the back of my bag, and it charged up with no problem. It weighs nothing, is easy to transport and is just a genius product. I came back from my trip and told my mom how great it was and she purchased one of her own for car camping!
Kind of disappointed
I've been using a predecessor to this lamp to light up my REI Passage 2 tent for about 8 years, hundreds of nights. It gave out on my last river trip. One of the reasons I liked it was that I could reach up to the shelf in the pitch dark, grab the lamp, locate the switch by feel and turn on the light. The switch was in the center of the light and I could feel it in the dark. On the new one the switch is off to the side and nearly impossible to feel. For me, this means that first I need to find my flashlight so that I can find the switch on the Luci, which kind of defeats the purpose of the Luci! Not sure if I'll keep it, given the inconvenience.
Go to adventure light
Camping, backpacking, night skiing, outdoor parties, I bring these lights everywhere! I had the good fortune of finding one of them in the high sierras when I was hiking the PCT and used it for hundreds of miles as my preferred light source. Lightweight, durable, and perfect for hanging in the tent at night. Unbelievably bright! I've even strapped it to my backpack while ski touring at night and my friends were pretty jealous.
best camp light out there
This is the best light for any kind of in-camp use. It has 3 levels of brightness plus a flashing mode. The low brightness is perfect for general "lantern like" light around the camp area and is a nice mellow light - not blinding. If I'm looking for something specific I can just hold it up and take a look and if I go in the tent I can just toss it in there. Unlike other small solar devices, this light charges quickly and holds its charge for a very long time. In fact, I used it all Spring/Summer and after the initial charge, just sitting around the camp was plenty to keep it fully charged, I didn't even have to try! You can forget batteries. Super impressive. My guess is that it weighs less that most flashlights.
Nice lantern
Hang from a limb or other item it will give you nice lighting. Compresses to take minimum space in backpack. Solar powered battery lasts.
