I doubt you'll find a better cooler. Worth every dollar. Properly used you can expect at least a week on original icing. Remember, no cooler will do well if you put room temperature items into a room temperature cooler then add ice. See manufacturer's videos. I throw a small case of frozen bottled water into the cooler the night before to cool it down. In the field I use primarily block ice, with some ice cubes. Don't drain the water unless necessary. That water is replaced by ambient temperature air which will prompt melting. Due to the weight of this 65 QT cooler (27 pounds empty) some will find it a burden or unmanageable. The bulk and weight is the trade-off for a high quality cooler. It is ideal for hunting & boating. If camping you will want to leave it in the trunk or truck bed. One last note... lock it down so it doesn't walk away...

We purchased this as part of a relocation to vegas. The product has no structural flaws and appears to be in fine working order. We tested the product with 35 lbs of crushed Sonic ice, divided by 30 lbs of regular gas station ice, and put a six pack in both sides. On a 112 degree day, in the shade, all the ice was gone within 24 hours. This is Vegas, so we were disappointed. We certainly expected 2 or 3 days, even in that heat. But no worries, we get that 112 is hot. Next we moved it inside, where the house is 78 and kept it out of the sun. Bought one 15lb bag of gas station ice for use in cocktails. Within 3 hours, it had already started melting. By morning, it was all water. No drinks were kept inside, and it was maybe opened 5 times total. For this type of ice life, I prefer prefer my 1975 steel Coleman to this 300 dollar behemoth. In fact, I am road tripping to NM soon, and the Yeti will be left behind for thr easier to carry, equivalent ice life Coleman. Which means I now I own a 300 dollar footstool for the back porch I guess.

KEEP THE LID CLOSED

I bought the Tundra 65 in March of 2018. I've used it on 2 car camping trips in avg high temps of 60 and 90 degrees. IMPORTANT TO ANY NEW BUYER: To achieve the claimed 10-days of ice retention, you cannot open the lid more than FOUR times a day & for longer than TEN seconds. On both of my trips (if you drink as much beer as my friends and I) we got ice retention that was on par with a $50 Igloo from Walmart. Still a fine cooler and I'm happy in general, but it's more of a conversation piece. If I didn't get the price super low with promos and gift cards, I WOULD HAVE PURCHASED a Pelican 50.

YETI 65 Skiff Seat

I shock-mounted a fiberglass airboat seat from Buttraxx (Cocoa Beach, FL) on my YETI 65 and it’s then tied-down a grab bar which is secured to phenolic blocks which are infused into the hull of a carbon innegra Hells Bay Eldora. Makes for the ultimate skiff seat/cooler combo in my humble opinion. Eats chop for lunch. Wildy stronger, keeps ice longer. -Capt. Joe Des Rosier YETI Pro Team Blue Lagoon Outfitters

Not the last cooler you’ll ever need.

Yeti touts how durable and tough these coolers are but I will say my experience was the exact opposite. We got it to go car camping & after having a $30 Coleman cooler the last 8 years where your ice is gone by day 2 we decided it was time to spend an obscene amount of money on a Tundra, because it would last forever. Well… we brought it car camping ONCE and it was ruined. Turns out, putting your Yeti cooler on a hitch rack on a Subaru Forester is not something I encourage unless it’s on the opposite side of the exhaust. Yes, exhaust is hot, we know, but we’ve had our Coleman in the same spot for years and never had a problem so we didn’t think twice with a cooler that can stand up to a bear. Boy, were we wrong. The exhaust melted the side off down to the foam. We had it a foot back and a foot offset and it still ruined this cooler. Also it got pretty scratched up and we’re the type that’s pretty good to our gear so if you have a darker cooler, keep that in mind. I have an additional star because despite it melting, we still had ice. I was also really disappointed both Yeti and REI said “that really sucks but there’s nothing we can do.” Not even a way to fix it. So we’re out $400 (more w. accessories) and I now have negative feelings towards two brands I used to be incredibly proud to support. All in all, I used to be a huge Yeti fan. I own about 22 of their products but after this, I likely will look elsewhere.

Disappointed

Fell apart after a week, top seal has a half inch gap, YETI label on crooked and the right handle snapped causing my husband to punch himself in the face while loading it into the car for the first time. That ruined our weekend trip, food was dirty from the cooler handle snapping, beers shaken and undrinkable, ice gone from falling out. I was so excited to have the best cooler on the market, a gift to myself after getting a raise at work. I am so disappointed for the price, it made me so upset to hear what a good company this and get sent this cooler. Hopefully it was just a one off and their warranty covers it.

Ultimate cooler - 6 day ice retention

We've rented this before a few times for weekend camping, and loved it so much we bought one on sale. For car camping, it fits just right, sideways, into standard bear proof food locker boxes found in Northern CA campsites. Following the instructions, we pre-chilled the interior one day before the trip, loaded it up with 50% ice/50% food, and the 22 lbs ice lasted about 6 days in 50-75 F weather (not too stressful but still impressive). Drain plug was easy to use and cooler is built very solidly and easy to clean. Next we will look into interior dividers and other accessories to expand its usefulness

Perfect siza, perfect cooler

I purchased my 65 last week, put ice in it on Monday and it's Sunday, the ice is still present and cold as you can get! Drinks are cold and my nephew used it as spot to lay down. I went to get a 105 but found the 65 was perfect size for me. Fell in love with a Tundra65! - Zach Vaugh, Festus, Missouri

5 for the 65!

This is the best cooler I’ve ever owned! Keeps ice for over 5 days and def stays colder for even longer. Definitely one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. The rubber stoppers are perfect and easy to use and the drain works likes a charm. I highly recommend one of these to anyone.

Bear... er, Patrick Proof!

Welp, this is a great cooler, as advertised... and more. How do I know? I "loaded" (placed) the new cooler into a new boat (towards the stern, not the bow which would have been a better wind shield) and headed from Atlanta out to the South Carolina coast ready for a week on the beach and in the marsh. About an hour into the drive, while keeping a nervous eye on my new toys, I watched the unsecured cooler catch some some air underneath it and tumble out of the back of the boat and into I-20... at 80mph. I hit hard, rolled, and bounced (think the crash scene from Rick Bobby) before a final slide on its side until coming to rest in between the two lanes of the highway. Used up a lot of luck on this one as no cars where hit in the initial fall and was successfully dodged once it came to a rest. After almost ruining my underwear, I was able to find a spot on the shoulder to pull over a 1/4 mile down the highway. After sprinting back down the shoulder and finding a gap in traffic, I was able to recover it and hike it back to the car. I haven't tested the cooler on a hungry bear, but I know it can handle hitting the pavement at high speeds and be functionally like new. Yes, it will have scars and scuffs on it, but it opens, closes, latches, and keeps the beer cold as if this never happened. Great cooler. Chances are you'll never test your new cooler like I did; because you'll tie it down. But, when you do make it a mistake, this cooler is ready for it. Thank you Yeti, I have been, and will continue to be, a fan of the durability of your products.
