Why We Like The Acadia Jacket
When spending the day outside, it's hard to know exactly when the weather will turn so we always make sure to have the Mountain Hardwear Acadia Jacket stashed away and ready to go at a moment's notice.
It's made with a 2.5-layer recycled nylon shell that shuts out water when those rainclouds up above decide to burst, and features an adjustable hood to keep your noggin protected from wind and rain. Zippered underarm vents ensure that things don't get too stuffy in your shell, while zippered hand pockets keep trail snacks and everyday items safely stashed away.

Good jacket
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- L
- Height:
- 6' 10"
- Weight:
- 170
I bought this jacket last year and has met my expectations, good design, feels light and compacts good. The front pockets are spacious and the armpit zippers are good, handles small rains good but it does get wet out under heavy rain. Would recommend

Great fit and looks great
This shell is great. I usually wear a large so got a large and tried it over a Moutain Hardwear puffy jasket (650 fill) and no problems at all. Super comfortable, light, and packs down. When I'm out in the bush, i will officially have no fear of the elements. Highly recommend :)

True to size? Not even close!
Ok first, this is a very, very entry-level rain shell. I've had the entry-level offerings from North Face, Patagonia and HH and they were all superior to this jacket. My main beef though is the sizing. I am 5'8" and 150lbs and the Small is absolutely huge on me. I look like a toddler in their older sibling's clothes. I've never understood why these companies can't make a regular human-sized jacket but, there it is. If you're going to buy this and you're anywhere near my size order an extra small if possible. How 5'8" 150 is extra small I'll never know but caveat emptor.

“Waterproof”
First day I took it out in the rain I got completely soaked. Wasn’t waterproof at all.

Plastic fantastic
My Acadian jacket arrived quickly. But for an outdoor clothing company to ship the jacket wrapped in plastic, inside a plastic envelope, is seriously disappointing. The jacket looks nice so far, won't know how it performs until the next rainy adventure. But I won't recommend it to anyone else until Mountain Hardwear switches to more environmentally friendly packaging.

Simple, Waterproof, Reliable
Used it ice climbing, hiking in the rain, and biking in the rain. Fits over various layers and keeps me warm and dry while being easy to pack and fit in a pack

Great light outer shell!
Great light rain jacket with the amount of times that has rained in California this year (not much), but mostly wore this to protect against the wind. It runs a little big, if you want a perfect fit, you'd probably wanna get it one size down. I didn't mind it as I can layer up.

NOT Waterproof
Water resistant wind breaker. Not waterproof. I was impressed until my third hike in the rain, when the jacket soaked through in about a mile.

Water resistant, not waterproof
Works well for a light drizzle, but as this was advertised to be "waterproof", I took it out on a fishing charter and it was raining pretty steadily and I was soaked to the core within minutes. Should be clearly advertised as water resistant, not waterproof.
