Great outer layer for winter adventures!!

If it is windy, rainy, or snowy this is my go-to outer layer. As a shell it is perfect for walking the dogs, skiing, or walking around town. Adjusting base and mid-layers I have worn the jacket in temps from -20 to 35 F and been comfortable. A few of my favorite things ... Room in the shoulders for full movement, pit zips, high pockets (work well with backpack waist belt), sleeves are the perfect length - don't ride up but not so long that they get in the way when using my hands. The it is comfortable with only a single baselayer without feeling over sized. I have worn upto a base layer, vest, and mid-layer without feeling like a stuffed sausage. For skiing the only thing missing is a powder skirt, but I didn't miss it.

Manufacturing Defect
Received free product
As a loyal Arc’teryx customer I purchased this premium priced jacket in large measure because of its’ stated quality & “product warranty”.  I recently discovered my Beta jacket clearly had a manufacturing defect due to the glue failure as the seams on the jacket degraded and failed. I contacted Arc’teryx and after describing my issue and providing the requested photos they informed me they would be able to repair it. I then paid to ship it to them, and was later informed that they were unwilling to repair it, but would offer me an $85 gift card toward the purchase a new jacket (which retails for $600). I expected them to at least make an honest effort to satisfy a long-term customer. I will not be purchasing another garment from them and remain very disillusioned by the Arc’treyx name.

Works in a Hurricane!

This jacket arrived just before Hurricane Nicole - perfect timing! Things I love: It's just long enough to cover my bum (no water seeping into my waistband, drier bum when sitting) double-adjustable hood (less of it flying off with wind) cuff velcro that actually works & armpit vents (because all rain jackets need them) layers SO WELL - it's warm with just a base layer, but allows for a sweatshirt underneath as well with plenty of movement and doesn't look awkward either way. color: the yellow is almost mustard, which is a fun play on the classic "yellow raincoat" of childhood that I loved. Overall, a great addition to my outdoor gear. I'll be wearing this for years to come!

Fantastic shell!

I've had an Arc'teryx Beta LT jacket for over 12 years and I recent got the Beta AR jacket. The hood and collar system on the AR is a very nice improvement! The AR jacket has stiffer fabric and a looser fit than the LT in the same size, so I can fit a puffy coat underneath. It doesn't roll up as small as the LT so it won't be my first choice for mountaineering but it will be great for many of my other activities. I'm not a fan of the mustard yellow color but functionality and quality matters more to me than the color. I expect to get at least a decade of use from it!

Worth every penny

I hemmed and hawed over buying this expensive rain jacket. However, after backpacking in the rain and getting soaking wet with a “waterproof” jacket I decided it was worth a shot. I bought a medium, because I was able to try on a small at a local REI store and it was a tad snug. I think Arc’teryx runs a little snug, or fitted, on their stuff. I took it on a very recent trip with threats of rain drops, and this jacket delivered. Perfect hood. Pockets to keep your valuables dry. It is worth every single penny. And it’s so expensive it may be one of those things I can pass down to my children in my will. “I bequeath unto you my expensive rain jacket.”

unsure this will probably be my last Beta

this is my 3rd one. First one i got was back in early 2000 and the jacket was the BEST!! It was Made in Japan and solid!! 2nd beta i got probably 4 years ago, love the purple color but it was getting too tight for me… blame the covid. I recalled i only paid like $300. This time i was shocked the price went all the way to $600!! The cut of the jacket is so different…. not flattening at all very boxy as others have said. I’m so glad i didn’t order medium… and the material feels so thin… will be another rain storm next week and i will try it out but this is most likely my last one cuz the price is just way too much…

Damaged after only 2 months of purchase!!

I bought this jacket less than 2 months ago (Mars 2023). I absolutely love it and I washed it regularly and carefully as recommended on Arc'teryx website with Grangers products. However, I just noticed a big stain on the inside of the jacket, on the back. I tried to clean it with Grangers products and also using a soap specifically for the stain, but nothing worked. Additionally, there are two other stains (much smaller) on the outside of the jacket, in the front, next to the zipper, on the left side, which also can't be removed. I am so disappointed by this issue. I have had several issues with Arc'teryx products lately, and I'm starting to think that the quality is definitely not as good as it used to be!

Great for snowboarding, trendy and high quality!

I purchased this jacket in the Orca colorway last winter (white with black logo) and wore it snowboarding and snowshoeing. I really loved the color and the fit. It was roomier than the previous Beta jacket from 2019 that I had but still cut nice. The pit zips were super nice to have to cool down. Wind and water resistant even in a heavy snowfall I stayed warm and dry. I like the inner pocket for holding my electronic ski pass. My only complaint is that the white stains easily (which I should have known). I assumed it would wash out with ease but once you get a black mark on it from rubbing on something it doesn't come out, even with proper care instructions and the Arc'teryx Gortex wash. I docked one star for that.

Great performance, but durability short for price

I use this jacket for all my outdoor ventures - including as a wind/rain shell while biking, snowboarding, and hiking/backpacking. It is very waterproof (provided you wash/care for it as recommended); I’ve had no leaks in even the most extreme rainstorm in Patagonia. However, the little piece of metal underneath the fabric for the lower back draw strings on both sides has worn small holes through the fabric. I believe this is a result of wearing a backpack. I spoke with an Arc’teryx representative about this, and they consider this “normal wear and tear” and recommended I patch it with Tenacious Tape. Personally, I do not think a $750 should “wear and tear” like this.
