I bought the upper from PSA and have thrown in a Anderson BCG and on a Anderson lower. NCstar carry handle is less desirable but $100 for a better carry handle that I'm just gona replace with a LPVO later really didn't make sense. I just wanted to get it operational as soon as possible so I could start getting familiarized with it. So far runs great, zero malfunctions, never missed a shot on a 8inch steal at 100yds once I got sighted in.

I've been wanting to make a budget A1 build, so I ordered both a 20in upper and A2 lower from PSA. I was glad to see the upper came with a triangle front cap so the repo A1 handguard slipped right into place in seconds. Took the rifle to the range and put around 200 rounds into it with no issues and was very accurate at 100+ yards with irons and Tula ammo.

Decided I wanted to do a modified A2 rifle. Purchased the PSA 20" for my Bushmaster carbine lower. The fit is incredible. It's tight and fits like they were made for each other. The finish is excellent and it looks good. I did change out the hand guards, I was inpatient to wait for the PSA 20" with the picattiny hand guards but it all worked out. Used Midwest Industries 2 piece hand guards. This is my first purchase from PSA but not my last. Service was quick and easy.

This upper is really very nice for the price. It comes with the triangle front handguard retainer, which I confirmed with PSA before ordering. I have all the other parts needed to build an mut M16 A1-3. This is a flat top upper (A3/4) with a gov profile barrel (A2), thinner under handguards and thicker from gb forward to muzzle. A2 bird cage flash hider. Also has brass deflector and forward assist. I plan on putting a detachable carry handle sight, USGI trianglular A1 handguards, buttstock and pistol grip, which will probably make some of you cringe, but I want the A1 looks with the A2-4 upgrades for almost a third of the price of a retro A1 complete rilfes sold elsewhere. I have many ARs, all 16 inch or less barrels. I have had one PSA freedom upper w melonite thin barrel, 16 inch that I abuse to death with echo trigger and mag dump after mag dump and it has held up for years with sharp rifling, no major decrease in accuracy or other problems. These PSA builds help me keep some of the hard use and high round counts off of my Colts.Thanks PSA again!

I just finished my retro M16 A1 build. Obviously A2 profile but works great for a budget A1 build. I removed the upper receiver and replaced it with a Brownells A1 upper. Also changed out the hand guard for the retro triangle hand guard. Really easy install, and everything matched up really well.

I’m overall impressed with the build quality. The accuracy is about the same as a mil spec m16 or m4. On mine I dropped in a zero fail bcg and a standard charging handle. I’m getting about 1.5 to 2 inches at 100 meters. Which is all I realistically need. Overall a really awesome upper for the money. Will post a pic when I finish turning it into my dmr.

The upper shoots fine and functions properly. These have an issue with the front sight base being canted. Received mine and was visibly canted to the right, purchased another 20” upper from PSA and had the same issue. Sent that one back and kept my original. Canted front sight base was corrected by setting my red dot far left to counter. Couldn’t use with my A2 carry handle. Overall good upper shoots fine.

I purchased this to complete a build I started by accident. During the plandemic I was able to get one of the stripped receivers on the black Friday sale quite a while back. The Dagger frame and AR receiver sale I think. I was putting away a bunch of parts in stock for customer work and saw I had enough to complete the receiver. I added an A2 fixed buttstock that required an extra washer at the stock bolt to tighten properly. It was not a PSA item as they were out of stock at the time, (pun intended).I mounted the NCStar carry handle ordered here to the upper, and the BCG, which was ordered at the same time as the upper. PSA shipped all three separately.After a thorough cleaning I assembled the rifle. The upper fit snugly to the lower. Next will be the field test, But I feel confident all will go well. As soon as my parts supplier has the A1 hand guard, I will install that to complete the retro look and feel. And, Yes, the bayonet fits perfectly.PSA upper, lower and BCG. Internals and pistol grip from Damage industries. Charging handle, Milspec from Colfax tactical. Buttstock from Black Rifle Depot. Future A1 handguard, TBD.

Another high quality product from PSA. I have wanted one of these 20 inch uppers for quite a while, but they always sold out before I could get one. Got lucky this time, and it is definitely a good heavy duty upper. After unboxing, I mated it up with a previously purchased PSA stealth lower that already had a classic A1 stock installed. An original colt carry handle, mil-spec charging handle, spare PSA bolt carrier, and A1 hand guards, finished the build. It functions like a tack driver and keeps shot groups tight, just like I would expect. I would recommend this to other customers.

I bought this on a whim to build a cheap m16 clone and it got out of hand. It ended up becoming a bit of an m16a5 concept build with a5 adjustable receiver extension and a KAC m5 ras handgaurd. FSB is properly pinned, gas tube is aligned and the headspace checked out. Shot 2 mags at 50 yards with a2 carry handle and I shot very nice groups with 77gr while the 55gr ball ammo did almost as good well.

Good stand in for an A4 clone. Not a huge fan of the handguard (more oval in shape than round, as others have mentioned) but for the price it can’t be beat. Shoot to 5k, swap the barrel and move on with life.

PSA did it again: messed up my plan by putting this on sale with free shipping. I had a BCG and CH already so how could I not buy this? Ran about 80 rounds through it today so far and ran flawlessly. Using PTC Bronze ammo (which doesn’t work properly with all ARs), and seven different magazine brands (Hera, Magpul, Amend2, Lancer, D&H, Promag, H&R). Looks awesome too, especially when paired with the fixed stock with rifle buffer.

Picked this up to complete an A1 build. The only thing I did was replace the A2 handguard with an A1 style handguard, waiting on an A1 flash hider to complete this. The quality is superb. I'd like to say it groups well, but I have yet to get it to the range, so time will tell. I dropped in a (PSA) FA-BCG and standard charging handle, everything works perfectly.

I had a spare BCG and CH on hand, so when I saw this 20” AR15 upper on sale with free shipping, I just had to order it. I have replaced the round classic handguard with Luth triangular (which go on easily on a PSA upper w/o any filing or grinding), and added a cheap copy of an M7 bayonet. The rifle shoots great and I am very pleased with the way it looks and handles.
