I recently dialed my full comfort gear down to the Fastpacker’s weigh of 10lbs, not to run trails but to continue to be a backpacker as I turn 70 later this summer. I also liked that your Skyline 30 loads up my shoulders & chest vs. my lower back & hips which tends to aggravate my sciatica. I recently did a long overnight at Guadalupe National Park (GUMO) where I needed to carry an additional 4 liters of water beyond the 3 liters typical of the Skyline 30’s two 500ml Liters Flasks and a 2 Liter internal bladder; for a total of 7 Liters. For that I used a Sea to Summit 4 Liter WaterCell which slipped into the Skyline 30 like it was designed to fit. With dehydrated food that took my full weight up to 28lbs which was beyond your recommended 20lbs but the pack still performed perfectly; of course in the course of the two days as I consumed the water the pack did quickly drop back to your recommended guidelines. What was great was GUMO has some wonderful backcountry campsites which I have not been able to reach due to pack weight & lack of water in the past few years. So thank you for designing a pack for your targeted Trail Runner audience which has the unintended consequences of helping us Senior Backpacker stay on trail!
Can't say enough these are my second pair. Had to downsize to 34" waste for the second set. Love the adjustablity of the wast band. But the real deal is the wear factor and stain resistance. So easy to clean and maintain. Great product keep it up. I wear these around the house almost every day when not fishing or hiking. Truly great product and material. Really like the length, pockets, design.
Had been looking for a trekking pole upgrade for some time when the Komperdell Explorer Zero Corks came across my radar. I like the combination of quality and value (at least compared to the carbon version). Very satisfied so far.
We really like this container for filtering water. Filling it is so easy with the super wide opening. The closure is very secure. We combined it with the Sawyer squeeze water filter. The container feels well made and durable.
I love this water bladder. It's 28mm so it works with my Sawyer Squeeze! Its great. You can drag it in the river, filling up the bladder, and pump the water directly into a clean Smart Water Bottle. I love this thing!!! Its so awesome!
Great combination of warmth, weight and durability. Fantastic addition to my hiking equipment
These shirts are the best for hiking, Ultra Marathons and look so cool too. The material is so comfortable. I have bought some more of them.
Light, foldable, rollable, useable for lots of stuff. I like it!
Jacket is just what I wanted, a light wind break with just enough insulation to get through alot of wind.
I took the Ventus on a 10 day - 90 mile backpacking trip in NM this month. Evening, overnight and morning temps were in the hi 30s to low 50s so I used it from the time we got off trail in the evenings until the first break back on trail the next morning, almost every day. I never needed my puffy jacket. The Ventus was surprisingly warm for its weight and breathed well under my pack for the first few miles of the hike each day. Highly recommend this hoodie. I did have to exchange the XL for a XXL before the trip. It runs small for me. I am 6’3”, 225 lbs and wear an XL in most brands. FYI
Quiet, comfortable, easy to inflate and packs down small.
I actually carry two of these on trail, they are that light weight. I use these from a kneeling pad all the way to a food rehydration insulator. Having two is also great backup for catastrophic air mattress failure.
The first thing to realize here is that this “performance” shirt it’s just advertising outdoor vitals is an is a company dedicated to outdoor, ultralight, performance, but it itself is not a performance shirt. This is just a casual picture tee that helps the company advertise and brags about a brand you like. But I believe it was 60% cotton and 40% polyester, so it’s not a backpacking shirt. The brand of shirts outdoor vitals prints for their swag is “next level.” I’m well familiar with their brand as I prefer just regular solid color T-shirts for the most part if I’m going to wear a T-shirt. Next level shirts are very comfortable and they’re sizing is on point. There’s this thing called vanity sizing, and basically it’s where most companies have increased the size of their garments while leaving the name the same. For instance a 38 chest used to be a large, but now it’s considered a medium or even a small. What I love about this brand as they haven’t done that. A small is still a small, which is great because for a small man where everything in the world has gotten bigger It’s very hard to find things that still fit well, because while companies may call “small’s” “medium’s”, the size of people haven’t changed… I’m still a small even though nowadays I have to try to find extra small and most companies don’t offer that. Point is order true to size with next level and you’ll be good. (For the stuff that outdoor vitals makes, you’ll want a size down. There mediums are smalls, they’re smalls are extra smalls,, etc. But that is the new modern standard unfortunately. I guess he can’t blame him for following it, even if it does make it harder for little guys like me to get high-quality outdoor gear that actually fits.
I got this shirt in the army green color, which I think is so pretty! But if that doesn’t suit your fancy, there’s obviously other colors to choose from. As far as visually, what you see is what you get.
Upon arriving in Colorado, our outfitter had us climb Mt. Elbert (14,438'). The OV Fast Pack easily accommodated 4 liters of water, snacks, lunch and extra clothes needed for the cold temperatures at the summit. It did not bounce like other small packs. Everyone in my group was asking where I got it. I found the Fast Pack to be very comfortable with easy access to the two 500-ml water bladders. I would highly recommend this product.
