Pilling is a Problem
I loved this sweater when I first purchased. It was cute and warm. I got so many complements from people. After the first wear, it started to pill. A little at first and then just more and more. I have worn it 4 times and the pilling became so annoying. Big fuzz balls along the arms and sides formed. Washed it (followed the directions) and the pilling got worse. Wore a fifth time after washing and the sweater looks so old and like I’ve had it for 10 years. For a $200 product, I would expect better quality. Very disappointed in the short life span of this sweater especially from a brand with such a great reputation.
Love it for any mountain activity!
So cozy and warm! I have worn this XC skiing, hiking, shoveling, roughhousing with dogs, and just straight up lookin cute. It is a quality piece that will be with me for a long long time. I think it runs fairly true to size, but I ordered a size up for comfort, style, and layering,,
The ultimate
Updating my review now that I’ve really gotten to test this sweater in its true element… snowshoeing in 28° weather. This sweater is the ultimate. Super durable under the straps, breathable, temperature regulating, and warm. I wore a vest over it where I could tuck my hydration tube to keep it from freezing. It only got chilly on a windy downhill with less exertion, so I added a wind breaking layer on top. This is a great sweater!
Awkward fit
This is a beautiful sweater. I loved the colors, the pattern and the high-quality materials and construction. I purchased a small, which fit my perfectly through the chest and waist. The length was just below my hip which is exactly where I would want it to hit. My issue with the sweater and the reason that I had to return it is that the sleeves were enormous, both in length and in diameter. I'm used to sleeves being too long so that is easily remedied by rolling the sleeves up. But I couldn't find a way to account for the large diameter. They just looked huge and puffy. Which is odd given the waist is tapered and well fitting. I was very very sad this didn't work out.
Cozy and cute winter sweater
I received this sweater a week ago and have worn it 4 times since! Very comfortable and warm. Definitely need to wear a thin long sleeved layer under because it's itchy, but it makes a very cute and functional mid layer. I teeter between small and medium sizes, I went with the medium and am glad I did. For reference I'm 5'9", size 6, D cup.
The go-anywhere sweater!
Truly a go-anywhere sweater for cooler temps. I ordered both a small and medium to try out (I’m 5’3” 135lbs). There’s very little difference between the two sizes. As they were different colors, I ended up keeping both. The medium I put a roll up on the cuff and there’s just slightly more room for layering. The small is a tad more tapered, but the medium is by no means bulky. I hiked in this sweater for the first time yesterday in around 41° and breezy. It was insulating and breathable. Not a bit of discomfort, with a tank as an under layer. No wear shown where my backpack lays following the hike. Wool is my friend but it might not be everyone’s. The material could definitely be itchy to someone who is sensitive, but no issues here.
This sweater is a must!
I went to my local REI as soon as I saw this in Grey online. They didn’t even have them out on the floor and they had to go in the back to grab me a large and an extra large so I could determine the fit. I am 5’9”, 188 pounds, 40 D bust an hourglass shape and typically wear size 12. I could’ve done either size but preferred the XL because it had about an inch more length in the torso and in the arms which I prefer for my sweaters. It still had a great shape that fit close to my body without looking baggy even by going up a size. It does have wool so it is a little itchy, but not bad. I always wear a shirt underneath anyway so it’s not an issue. The Grey is so pretty and a perfect neutral. Fjallraven always makes quality sweaters that are thick enough to keep you warm without being super heavy and they always look amazing no matter where you wear them. Very happy with this purchase.
Amazing sweater, worth the splurge
I had been eyeing this sweater for a couple of years and finally went for it when it went on sale and I'm so glad I did. It's so warm and well made and I expect have it for many years to come. One of those splurges that is really worth it for how beautiful, useful, and durable it is. I was between sizes and sized up and that was the right choice. The neck is pretty fitted and would have been too tight on the small even though the medium is kind of long in the arms. This is traditional wool, not Smartwool style merino, so it's a rugged outer layer, not a next to skin sweater or one for people who are sensitive to wool, but I don't find it itchy at all as long as I wear a thin long sleeve layer underneath it.
Attractive colors, good fit and very warm
Fjallraven women’s Ovik knit is so cute, well-made With good materials, warm. I bought both colors because they were on sale. I purchased a third color through another website. I would have bought all colors of the we’re not so spendy. They are with the sale price. Just make sure you wear a long sleeve layer underneath because it is itchy/ scratchy otherwise. Wash cold and dry flat. It shrinks a little, but i stretch it out at the armpits and shoulders while it’s wet.
Declining knit quality
I bought this sweater less than three months ago and there is already a hole under the left arm. This is my third sweater from here. The first one (on right side of picture) i ordered about five years ago and i was VERY happy with it. Im willing to pay for quality but i rodered one last year and after a few months a hole started under the arm. I chalked it up as maybe needing a bigger size. Even though it fits perfect and there’s a but of stretch to it. So this year i ordered a size bigger. Its a bit baggy but i wear it prediminantly for warmth not fashion. Sure enough, a hole starts under the arm, less than three months in. Im very disappointed. The knit quality seems to be declining and sadly i can’t afford to take any chances to pay this kind of money for a sweater that only lasts a few wears.
