On the Scott Genius 960 Complete Mountain Bike 2021, you can ride smarter AND harder. This versatile all-mountain machine has 150mm of travel in the front and back so you can crush rugged trails with smooth style. It's kitted out with solid but affordable components, giving you the dropper post, 1 x 12 drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, and geometry that modern rippers look for. And thanks to the versatile design, its easy to change it up once you know what you need to be different. Easily shift between modes on the fly, and choose between 27.5" or 29" tires depending on the mood. It's like having two (or more) bikes in one - now that's smart.
Genius Alloy SL 6011 Frame – With custom butted tubes, Scott's Virtual 4 Link suspension, and room for tires up to 2.8" wide, this frame was made for trails: it can take it and dish it out, with geometry made for shredding.
TwinLoc Suspension System – With TwinLoc, a rider can effectively control the complete frame, fork, and shock as a system. Why does this matter? A bike with 150mm of suspension travel, correctly set up, has more sag than a bike with 130mm. It's that extra travel that makes it more fun to ride and more capable on the descents, but the greater sag has an oversized effect on the bike's geometry and climbing performance. That's where TwinLoc matters. Via a handlebar remote, you can choose from three bikes in one!
X-Fusion NUDE Rear Shock – With new seal designs and materials chosen to optimize performance and increase durability, this shock is known for excellent small-bump sensitivity and overall efficiency.
Shock Adjustments – 3 Modes, Rebound Adjust, Lockout
Genius Trail Geometry – Compared to the previous iteration, this one is slacker, has longer reach, shorter chainstays and a steeper seat angle. We really wanted geometry figures that would balance out the long front end for more stable descending. What they've ended up with is a bike that climbs like a bat out of hell and gets you down the mountain faster than you can say "dropping!"
Virtual 4Link Design – The Scott suspension kinematic brings perfect balance and control to the platform. Using Virtual Four Link design, they have honed their suspension feel, pedaling, and braking response to work with maximum efficiency and in harmony with the TwinLoc Suspension System. The kinematic suspension curve gives supple small bump sensitivity and therefore exceptional traction characteristics, perfect support in the mid-stroke and a controlled deep stroke for predictable and comfortable bottom outs. Specific pivot placements ensures efficient pedaling that drives the bike forwards like a startled greyhound and neutral braking that strikes a perfect balance between rider comfort and control, chassis stability and rear wheel traction.
Easy Wheel Size Changes – No need to change the fork, all you need to do is flip a shock mount chip, change your wheels and off you go. The flip chip allows you to maintain a similar BB height when switching from one wheel size to the other which is key to keeping handling similar for both wheel sizes.
Marzocchi Z2 – Featuring a new from-the-ground-up Rail damper, the Z2 combines low maintenance with intuitive ease of use and impressive on-trail performance. The top-of-fork simple sweep adjuster from firm to open can lock out the fork or fully open the system with plenty of positions in between. The Z2 - it just makes everything easy.
Fork Adjustments – Air Spring Pressure / Lockout - Traction Control - Descend (via Remote) / Rebound
SRAM SX Eagle – SX Eagle is your partner for all rides, all the time, all day. Long days, quick rides and everything in-between, SX Eagle is the ecosystem at its best. With the extended range, all new colors and seamless compatibility with the rest of the ecosystem, SX Eagle is there to maximize the potential of your ride experience.
Shimano Disc Brakes – Controllable stopping power, all in a lightweight 2-piston trail brake. These feature Shimano's famous reliability and ease of setup.
Shimano RT30 Rotors | 203mm F / 180mm R
Maxxis Dissector Front Tire – Designed in conjunction with Aussie DH racer Troy Brosnan, the Dissector seeks to minimize drag while retaining cornering control.
Maxxis Rekon Rear Tire – Wide knobs down the middle provide control under braking and L-shaped side knobs assure support when carving loose turns. With confidence like this you can race more and scout less with the Rekon.
