Innovative and very high quality camera backpack

VERY happy with this backpack. It is innovative, very easy to use and extremely well made. I really appreciate the ability to replace parts if something breaks, which to me is a sign that they expect this backpack to last years. The build quality certainly suggests longevity as well. I also like the fact that it's built for photographers but doesn't scream "look at all the expensive equipment I'm carrying!" It also has anti-theft zipper locks, which is a nice touch. Lots of other innovative features as well. The side pockets can carry anything from water bottles to a medium sized tripod, and the straps help secure it in the pocket. The easy to configure pocket/shelf systems is easily the coolest I have seen, and you can configure this a dozen ways before you ever move any velcro, just by folding the wings in different ways. And the swing to access side openings are nice. And lots of hidden things like foldaway straps, pockets, etc add functionality without making it bulky or having straps hang all over the place to snag and clank against things. I particularly like the easy to open but secure, expandable top. I did see a couple of criticisms on other reviews I wanted to address. One said it wasn't design for photographers. I couldn't disagree more. This is very easy to use for shooting or carrying gear. And another criticism said the straps didn't provide enough padding. Any REI backpacker knows padding is not the same as comfort. I suppose some of these really large camera backpacks are meant for 40 pounds of gear, while this is not. But I have had no problem with comfort carrying about 25 pounds of gear. Very happy with this purchase.

Overpriced for what you get

Nice enough backpack, firm structure, zippers open to inside. Small exterior pockets handy for lip balm or keys. New REI COOP backpack has similar urban, streamlined design with more functionality for only $79. Hard to justify spending 4x more.

2 Key Critiques

I love Peak Design and will still buy their products. But please consider these for next iterations! 1. The luggage slot on this bag goes in sideways. This is inconvenient because 1). one side of the bag is unreachable, 2). accessing the top back slit pocket results in contents falling out and 3). the slot to put the luggage handle through is larger than my luggage bags, resulting in a slide from side to side making it difficult to balance the bag. 2. The bag does not fully open from the back. while it is okay most of the time, it is much more practical to be able to pull the whole back part out to access contents, especially if it's in the middle of the middle (not easily accessible from the sides or the top). Otherwise the bag is sturdy, looks great, has many features and I still use it everyday.

The Bag!

So there are two sizes, I watched the video and was like I know what size I want...wrong! The 30L arrived and I was like that's the size of my torso and some. The return process was amazing and soon enough I had the 20l in my possession! So after my little misstep the 20 lire is amazing. So I purchased to have a camera bag/backpack. I have a sling over the shoulder but it I'm walking around a little just taking amateur photos it's gets heavy but I will still keep my side slingbag for the purpose but if I plan on walking a little or going overseas I wanted something a bit more travel friendly. I didn't want a bag that screamed camera bag, mainly for personal safety and totally want to underplay what's in there. This bag achieves that. (The camera gear I have is a mirrorless camera plus a couple of prime lenses and a tele, sometimes the tripod comes, sometimes the flash and little bits like that - not a professional so sometimes instruction cards too). While wanting a bag to carry my camera gear I wanted a bag to serve me in other was especially at this price point. So it's currently doubling as a work bag. It fits the work 13" laptop no stress. It also fits my surface book 15" but with that hinge it's a touch tighter. I don't think I would try both laptops in the rear pocket together it feels too tight but you could easily place one into the main pocket if you were a person who needs two. Because I like to travel lighter on the weekends plus I'm lazy I will often have a work bag large enough to fit my more weekend cross body bag so I have all the junk if my personal life in my work bag without any efforts. So my cross body fits in this awesome and the side access works really well. I would suggest if you have a preference to swing and side access a particular way then the opposite side use the little lock tabs and lock the other side to slow down your ability to open everything onto the ground because you just threw things in the bag back rather than actually pack them. I should stop rambling through this because there are other things too, the everything screams quality! I was not expecting the material to be as stiff and firm and structured. It is really structured so I feel like I need to wear the bag in. I don't have any problems with that but if you had hoped to maybe stuff this bag into a suitcase or something weird like that you won't be able to. I love this bag and I'm so glad I purchased!

Meticulously Designed

I am a backpack enthusiast, I own several backpacks and I buy and sell them to try new ones. The everyday backpack v2 is always in my rotation. I am not into photography but the ingenious access system makes this work for a variety of settings (office pack, diaper bag). It is on the expensive side but the design is so good that other established companies have tried to imitate it. I love the versatility of the organization. I dislike that the material will pick up dust and sand, noticeably on the black model.

The Traveling Photographer's Best Friend

I was on assignment traveling throughout the EU this year. I made the mistake of taking my older, other brand backpack with me on the first few trips. I then invested and bought the Everyday Backpack V2. The difference in quality, design and ease-of-use was striking. I felt like I upgraded from a used Pontiac Aztek to a Porsche 911. Peak Design thought of everything. So many things I flagged as problems from the previous bag were integrated as useful, intelligent solutions on the EDB. The external carry straps, quick-release top flap, magnetic should strap keepers. All of it. Traveling with a ton of gear went from a nightmare chore to actually kind of enjoyable. Like my 6L Sling, I absolutely love this bag and evangelize for it wherever I go. I even ran into another photographer in Warsaw on my flight with the same backpack. We gave each other a satisfied look and confident nod. No words spoken, but we completely understood each other. Thanks for making this bag.

BEST CAMERA BACKPACK!

I absolutely love this backpack. Not only is it stylish, it's low profile but can carry a ton of gear. I've dragged this thing all over the world and it still looks new. The craftsmanship will blow you away - so well made. And they've thought of everything. Pockets where you need them, a super duty handle right where it should be, comfortable to wear, straps to keep the zipper from opening, and the list goes on. I might add that beyond the fine design of this product, the company backs it up. A company that loves our planet and its people. One step further, EXCELLENT customer service. I couldn't be more proud to support Peak Design.

Blown Away - This Bag is Amazing

I bought this bag last week just before traveling to Moab to shoot. For the price, I was expecting it to be comfortable, functional and able to accommodate all of my gear - and it satisfied all those expectations 100%. What blew my mind was its durability and toughness. Part of our trip included some mud. The red mud in Moab stains everything. It ruined everything I was wearing and it's even hard to get off your skin. Needless to say, my bag was covered in it. To make things worse, I let it dry on the bag and waited 4 days before washing it. When I got home, I threw it in the bathtub, sprayed it down and scrubbed it with a soft brush. I was amazed. Completely spotless and still dry inside! Way to go Peak Design, amazing product.

Attention to the Details

The magnetic latch (and magnet pockets and shoulder straps) and the origami dividers are what makes this bag for me. The fact that I have the option to either have a ton of different sections or a completely wide open space, is amazing. What a versatile bag. The other thing I really appreciate about this bag (and this company), is the attention to detail. This is a bag, yes..but it's also a piece of art! Ever since I received the everyday backpack as a Christmas gift last year, I have bought 3 more peak design bags. Definitely a lifelong customer!

So Many Uses. V2 (30L)

So, I’m a pilot, and I use this bag for nothing photography related, but I’m obsessed with the organizational aspect of the Peak Design backpack. I can fit my headset, my books, my sentry, laptop, iPad, batteries, cables, badges, etc all in a very very organized location all without it looking like a bunch of garbage throw into a bag. The Maglatch is my favorite thing ever, I use it all the time to access my books, while I use the side zippers to access the contents while my bag is on a table or in the aircraft. Had a few loose threads upon arrival, but I just cut the loose ends off and I haven’t had any issues regarding integrity of sewn joints. Iv had my students ask about this bag and tell me they were interested in it many times. I highly recommend to anybody.

Travel and work perfect

I keep finding more thoughtful ways this bag solves all my needs for work and travel. The internal magnet pockets keep your small things like wallets and passports safe, hidden but accessible. The side pouch fits a field pouch really really nicely. The laptop sleeve fits both my computer and an extra screen and the luggage sleeve makes it so easy to travel with a roller bag

I wanted quality and I got it!

Overly impressed with this bag, I wanted 'on the go' access without putting my bag down, something to travel with me everyday. I did my research on competitive products. the bag is higher priced than most but I received a high quality bag... I'd buy it again without a second thought. One of the best designed and made products I've purchased in a long while.
