Solid set

My girlfriend purchased this for our recent hunting trip just in time. I am pleased with how nice and solid it is. When she first told me that she bought it and I saw the price I was worried that it was going to be like the thin junk ones that you see at all the discount stores. Once we got it I was very glad to see that this is the nice heavy guage stuff just like the much higher priced ones. It is enamel so while we where out I dropped one of the mugs on a rock and it got a small chip in it but thats on me. What I love about enamel is the more you beat it up and chip it up the more it looks like my grand parent camping set and still functions fine. This is a solid deal on a very good set.

There was nothing functionally wrong - plates worked as plates and such. But many of the items came out of the box chipped or with bubbles in the enamel that later chipped. Some of this was during shipping, as indicated by the chips of enamel in the box. Some of this was poor manufacturing and quality control. If I have a 15-yr old plate with chipped enamel - that is character. If I am buying a new plate with chipped enamel - that is a bad product. In the end, some of these items were rusting after our first trip (washing and drying as careful as you can while camping) and we had to return the whole bunch. I would have kept them it is was possible to only replaced the damaged ones.

I Should Have Known Better

All the negative reviews are 100% true. I thought to myself, "there is no way these can be that bad." Well... They are. The enamel is so poor that it will come brand new from the box with bubbles and chips. Given the same criticisms from others, it is likely a manufacturing defect that the company doesn't care to resolve. I seriously thought it couldn't be so bad that I couldn't salvage something from the set given the reduced price. Even that resonate was easy off. Save yourself the time it takes to inevitably return this. Don't buy it.

Chipped Up out of the Box!

Over the years, I have come to expect a very high quality of gear from REI, whether it concerns cycling, hiking, camping, or just clothing. Unfortunately, this purchase fell significantly below my expectations due to the large and numerous chips on the plates. As such, I will be returning this purchase.

Chipped - I should have listened!

I read the reviews of people saying they arrived chipped and/or chipped easily and thought, "they just got unlucky, this won't happen to me." Nope. They arrived chipped, and then chipped in about 6 places after one single use. I sent them back.

You get what you pay for!

I’m surprised that REI would carry a brand with questionable quality control, even at this low price - I figured other low reviews were just flukes but sadly, I’m going to have to return this set because of all the bubbles and imperfections in the enamel I discovered after unboxing. I’m sure they don’t affect the usage of plates/bowls, but it’s a better bet to shell out a few more bucks and get a dinnerware set of higher quality.

Not Worth the price

Dropped a cup from a camp chair (knee height?) and it broke... I would have thought metal dishes would have held up better.

Poor quality. 48% off for a reason.

Enamel coating is poor quality. Enamel coating chips very easily and even comes with manufactured defects, chips from where the bowl/plates sat while the coated it. Wish I would’ve read the reviews.

Enamel Chips Off

Cheaply made, but functional. We use this set about 1-2 times a year for camping, and the enamel began to wear off very early on. I would not recommend this set.
