Temperature ratings are intended as a guideline to help you compare products, rather than a guarantee of warmth, since many different factors contribute to your comfort while you sleep. Backpacking bags are typically rated for temperature according to an independent testing protocol—currently International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 23537, though some older items followed European Norm (EN) 13537. Testing is based on a person wearing one base layer and a pair of socks, sleeping on an insulated surface with a minimum R-value of 5.38.

Each bag then gets 2 ratings: the Comfort rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "cold sleeper" comfortable, and the Lower Limit rating is the lowest temperature at which the bag will keep the average "warm sleeper" comfortable. Some brands determine their own temperature rating by aligning to the Comfort rating for women’s bags, to the Lower Limit rating for men’s bags, or somewhere in the middle for nongendered bags.

This sleeping bag is SO WARM and cozy - I love the interior pocket and the added buffer around the shoulder area to keep warmth in without making it feel like you're suffocating! The only downside is that the zipper doesn't go quite far enough down the sides. If you get too hot you can't easily unzip and stick a leg out one side; you have to expose your core by flopping the whole top down or take half of your body out. The zipper covers inside the bag give good coverage and prevent there from being a noticeable draft, so I wish they'd designed them to go further down the bag (even 2/3 would be better than 1/3). Overall I do love this bag, though, and plan to take many more camping trips in the future now that I own it and won't be cold at night!

I was overdue for a sleeping bag upgrade and I'm so glad I went with this bag. I LOVE the colors it came in, timeless but fun! The down is so cozy and it's nice to know that it's responsibly sourced. My old bag didn't have the expandable footbox and after using the Teton on a few trips I'm certain I will never go without this feature. So much more comfortable!

My boyfriend bought himself a new Marmot bag before our last trip and I may have been a little irritated that he didn't think to get me a new one while he was at REI. Sure enough though he took the hint and bought me this one for another trip we took last weekend. It is really a great sleeping bag! It is super warm and feels like you are sleeping in a big pillow. It is comfortable too, extra roomy in the hips and in the shoulders which I like. Also it is cuter than the ugly hand me down I had been using. All in all it is a great backpacking bag and I am sure it will be comfortable enough for summer camping as well. If you are looking for a quality comfortable bag it is definitely worth it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The sleeping bag I didn't know I needed but now can't live without. Amazingly comfy and warm even when camping in windy, wet Washington. Actually, was a bit too warm in 35° weather. The zipper that expands the foot room is an absolute game changer and my favorite feature of the sleeping bag by far. I've had this less than a month, so can't say how well it will hold up, but I've used it for 9 nights of camping and so far and it's stellar!!

As someone who normally gets claustrophobic in mummy bags, the Teton is a game changer. The expandable foot box made my nights much more enjoyable. It packed down to a great size, and color is so much more fun than the monochrome hew of green and blue bags i've had in the past.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wonderful weight and ability to compress small. The bottom foot zipper is wonderful for getting more warmth and ventilation. With the drawstrings around the hood and zippers on both sides of the sleeping bag are perfect for accessible warmth changes. The only issue is that the zippers along the side are a little short for swinging a leg outside of the bag. Beautiful lavender color!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Absolutely wonderful bag! Have only used in warmer weather but I just know it’ll be perfect for my fall and winter trips coming up. The down filling is fluffy and luxurious, the interior lining is soft, and the colors are beautiful! The dual zippers also made it comfortable to sit inside and read because the sleeping bag acted like a blanket. Checks all the boxes for me!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this on sale because I needed a lower temp rated bag for cold desert nights. Used so far in the upper 30's and was very toasty (needed to vent). I'm a very cold sleeper. Seems like a durable bag, though it's a bit heavy for backpacking. I mostly plan to use for car camping, or the occasional backpacking trip where my quilt doesn't cut it.

I especially like the ability to unzip the side flap from the bottom to give. little extra airflow without exposing my shoulders, the interior pocket placement for my headlamp, and the extremely level of "cinch" I can get out of the hood!
