Follow the directions and it's awesome!
The first time I used this, I was nervous but followed the directions to a "T".The parts came out looking brand new! After that I still use the directions as a guide but it's gotten easier each time.Make sure to invest in the cleaner so you can use it again and again. Also make sure you have spare gas tanks available just in case.Bottom line, if you take your time you won't be disappointed!

Excellent products
I have a small custom handgun shop where I specialize in single action big bore conversions.By the nature of the work I do my customers are very demanding on the finishes. You can have the best action and accuracy in the world but if it does not look good out of the box they won't be happy.I use the Brownells roll around bluing station as I have a small shop and only blue handguns and I've found that along with the Oxynate 7 to be one of the best investments I've made. The system is easy to us...Read more

Excellent
I have been using Oxynate No.7 for 20+ years in my gun smithing shop.It is by far the best bluing salts on the market.Everything from a matte finish to high polish comes out with a beautiful blue-black finish.Anyone that wants to use this system please read Brownells instruction booklet thoroughly.Wearing protective gear is a must.I recommend ALL the safety equipment that Brownells sells. You only have two eyes and the salts are caustic to organic matter.A mentor would be very helpful in t...Read more

Many of us gunsmiths have been looking to replenish our oxynate no.7 for a while now. You have these big 400 lb drums for sale.......would there be a slim chance of distributing these 400 lb drums into the 40 lb pails we'd like to buy? Maybe a long shot, but thought I'd try. I'd hate to switch over to dulite. Kind regards, JP.

We are unable to open the 400# drums and repackage, as they come sealed by the factory, due to packaging restrictions.

What is the final volume of the 40lb of Oxynate and 1 gallon of water? Trying to figure out if 40lb would be enough for a personal use setup.

Please refer to the learn section with Complete bluing instructions.  "A standard 6" x 6" x 40" Black Iron Bluing Tank filled to a depth of a little over 4" requires approximately 35 pounds of Oxynate No. 7, leaving you little for replenishment. Therefore, we recommend you purchase 2 pails of Oxynate No. 7 when you start up your bluing operation."

I have my bluing tanks set up in a shed outside, I did some awesome bluing last year and left the salts in the tank to dry out, they didn't dry very well and there is some rust present, I'm thinking of using bluing cleaner before I start bluing again, will this be sufficient to clean the rust from the salts or will I have to replace them? Thanks!
