Good to Great Bag

Overall, a nice bag, that is light and well padded. At almost 50, these are the most important features to me. Here are few things I'd change. I am not sure why the zipper in the back nor the water spout does not have a flap covering them to keep water out when it rains. I am also not sure why the water spout hole is in the middle rather than one side or the other. It was kind of annoying. I've bought three lightweight bags in the last year. Overall, due to the metal frame and padding, this will be my choice moving foward.

Working well so far

After 1 overnight trek and multiple day hikes to break it in and get feel for it, it's holding up well. Mesh outside pockets were handy and deep, and the spacious hip pockets had plenty of room for snacks and even the cellphone. Straps and back feel comfortable and being able to pull the back panel out to use as a sit pad was phenomenal at camp at the end of a long hike.

Enjoying it so far

I'm upgrading from an old, 80 litre pack now that I'm starting to get back into backpacking. This pack is light and mostly more comfortable than the old one. I like the zipper along the back giving access to the middle of the pack as well.
I've only taken it on one test hike so far, but the weight distribution feels good already. I think the one con I can identify right now is that the hip buckle/strap is very narrow compared to my old pack, making it less comfortable when tightened.

A Great Pack to get out

When I was younger, I was in Scouts and had an old Jansport that weighed several pounds and loaded it up. Shoes and pads hung out of the sides as the zippers tried to burst open. It was a feat to get on my back. Later, when I was a young adult I "upgraded" to another pack that had the same traditional features, still weighing several pounds empty. Even trying to purchase UL gear to get the weight to a manageable level, I already was starting with a deficit. Now that I'm a few decades older, and my kid just started scouts, I needed something with modern materials and a manageable weight. The Shadowlight was the perfect upgrade as my older gear went to my kid. We had our first camp out this past weekend and it packed everything well and balanced well on my "not so young" back. I couldn't be happier with the pack. The material is well made and the design is well thought out. I have never been more comfortable. I'm looking forward to years of Scouting with my kid, who will probably get this one when I buy another OV pack for myself!

Excellent ultralight pack!

I have long considered this pack, and finally picked it up. Glad I did. Some of the cords and buckles seem cheap at first, but help achieve its low weight. The magic happens when you load it up and strap it on. It is surprisingly comfortable under load. I also really like the side top pockets. Perfect for my Toaks 550 cook kit, and mug on the other side which I never liked how those things fit in a packs main compartment. I find the hip belt pockets hard to zip properly with one hand, so there are a few things I would like to be better built, but then you also end up with a heavier pack. Definitely recommend overall.
