Loose heal fit

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Height:
5' 8"
Weight:
165

I have a wide foot but the heal on these is way too loose on me. The heat molding doesn't make it any better - tried it 3 times. I have to ratchet them up very tight to keep my heal from sliding and getting blisters. They are also heavily padded on the upper so in the summer they are very hot, even with the little vents on the soles. I use them in the winter with very thick socks, and use my older ones in the summer. Big buyers remorse on these.

The most comfortable shoes I own.

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
45

I've got about 5,000 miles in the MX241 Wide shoes. I wear them on the road and gravel. I've done several 200-300km brevets in them. If it weren't for the stiff carbon sole and SPD cleat, I'd wear these around all day because the shape conform so well to my feet. I'm using custom orthotics from a foot doctor and when I wear them in these Lake shoes, my feet are rarely ever on my mind, which is the best feeling on the bike.

10,000 Miles

Size Bought:
45.0

I have over 10,000 miles on these shoes and have many other pairs before them. I use them for road, gravel and mountain, and have never had a shoe that performed so well and was as comfortable on ultra-endurance rides as well as short track sprints. Did I mention that if I clean them up a bit, they still look brand new?

Great fit for wide feet

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
45.5 wide

I recently purchased a pair of MX 241 Wide. I love them. I've been a cyclist for over 30 years and I've struggled to find comfortable cycling shoes. I mostly ride on the road and gravel. I ride Shimano SPD two bolt pedals (mtb). The MX 241 shoes have a unique upper design that contours to the shape of your foot. The heel is moldable as well. My experience with my new shoes has been bliss. No hot spots, no pain. I am using custom insoles from Specialized. My previous pair of shoes was Lake MX 237 Wide. They were very good shoes but the upper is more rigid and less able to conform to the shape of your foot. I can say based on those shoes that I expect the MX 241 to be very durable. When I switched to MTB pedals for all of my riding, I was concerned about wear to the rubber on either side of the cleat. After 4 years of use, my MX 237's show very little wear. The MX 241's use an identical carbon sole and rubber tread. Lake shoes are very well made in my experience.

Worth it!!!

These cycling shoes are expensive. But you get what you pay for. Immediately comfortable. Did 65 miles, the first ride. All I can say is, I wish I got them sooner. I have big, wide feet. Size 13US. The 48 wide fits beautifully. Just an excellent, quality shoe!!!
