Excellent product
I tremendously appreciate that Exped waited a couple months to solicit this review, so the review is from experience, not first impression! This is a great sleeping pad. I've used it for a week-long glacial ski traverse, and a 10 day (unusually warm) pack raft in the arctic, as well a few simple overnights. I have had no problems with it, and it's held up well. The 5R is appropriately thick and warm. I love that I get a fairly light pad AND plenty of cushion for a side sleeper. I have not been in deep winter cold, but this has felt perfectly warm, even when sleeping on a thousand feet of ice (plus, the 7R would be the version for deep winter cold). I purchased the wide mummy. I'm not a wide person, but that gives me a little more space where it's useful, without extra weight (compared to the rectangle version). I'm happy with that choice. I am 5'8" and bought the medium length. It fits me fine, but if anything I'd go longer, so if you're on the fence, size longer. The inflation bag works well and is quick and easy. I used to have a different-style Exped pad with a pump that I gave CPR to each night, and while I thought that was slick, this is much easier. On wet trips I've used the pump bag as a waterproof stuff sack liner to waterproof my sleeping bag when it's packed. I'm careful not to put much stress on it, and that's worked well so far.
Great for backpacking
This replaced a foam pad and inflatable combo I had been using for backpacking. The pad was easily inflated with the included schnozzel. It was also easily deflated and very packable. I used it in a shelter and in my tent in 20° weather and was very comfortable. I will update this review if anything changes with more usage.
