Hello Julianne, thank you for your question. The material used will have some water resistant properties, but the bag is not considered waterproof, and the zips / seams are not waterproof. You would be fine in a little shower, but nothing considerable. Macpac does sell lightweight and relatively inexpensive waterproof rain covers which is always worthwhile stashing in the bottom just incase you get caught out.

Yes this pack is hydration compatible as there is loop to hang the bladder securely inside, a port for the hose to come out of and a webbing loop to hold it on the shoulder strap.
