Patagonia Fleece Jacket number 4 of 4
… Exactly what I expected …..
Pilling After 1st wash, not wind proof
REI = great service, quality, variety Patagonia= Palo Alto, reliable, durable, sustainable products. Which is why I was disappointed by this jacket. It pulls easily with movement or usually wear. I only used 5X. First wash, all the pilling in the world occurred. Everything sticks to this jacket. Loved the arm pocket but the pilling makes it look cheap and old very quickly. It’s a pity as I have gear, jackets, sweaters, from Patagonia 20+ years old. Minor repairs. I basically just wanted a light jacket to put my entrance card on the arm. But the arm pocket is the only plus. Warmth was suitable, could feel wind through if you’re just standing or clipped to something and exposed. But if you move, you can get warm easily. Breathability is a 3 out of 5. Neck set up is awesome. Just sad about the pilling. Not an expectation of Patagonia.
Snug Fit, Poor Quality, Zero Bang for Your Buck
A solid no. It is a poor fit - the first one I purchased is a size small based on the size chart because my bust is 35", but it was so tight that it was uncomfortable. I gave the small to my mom, and bought a size medium which according to the size chart is for bust sizes 37-38". The medium is still pretty snug - so maybe I should have gotten a large... Besides the fleece is high maintenance - you cannot dry it in the dryer because it will not hold it's shape and the zipper will bubble. I actually bought a replacement (yes, fleece number 3) because I dried the first medium in the dryer, and the second medium held it's shape and the zipper didn't bubble as fast with line drying, but it eventually looked as bad as the first. Additionally, you must constantly use a fuzz eater to resolve the pilling, and for some reason the arm pits collect hair. I don't know why I tried so hard to like this fleece, especially given it's price.
Poor quality-stared pilling after second wash
This is my first Patagonia purchase and my last. I was very excited about this jacket-it has a nice, slim fit and is a little bit longer than some other jackets (which I appreciate as I have a longer torso). Unfortunately, the second time I washed it (according to the tag instructions), it pilled. The quality is incredibly poor, especially for the steep price. It is also a magnet for lint, feathers from down jackets or sleeping bags, hair, etc. It looks very cheap. I want to return it but I’m not in the US right now so I’m stuck with it.
Pilling and hair
I’m very frustrated with this sweater because I see so many people wear it, but it’s not that great. Not any warmer than any other sweater. Pills like CRAZY! (After 2 washes of turning it inside out)- maybe it’s because I got a lighter color so it’s more noticeable, but the pills makes it look super old and ratty. Lastly (and the part that gets me the most) is it collects/holds on to SO MUCH HAIR. I don’t have pets, yet I can’t seem to rid it of all the hair it picks up. Super nasty! Never again. Not worth the money.
Perfect indoor/outdoor layer, pills sometimes
I have two of these! I got the first one in black because it was on sale and looked cozy, and it's become my go-to zip fleece. It's like a more mature and warmer version of the hoodies I wore in my 20s. This year I got a blue one as a birthday gift to myself. These are great for lounging/work from home, but bike commuting is the reason I think these are worth the price. I use them to bike in the morning, either under a windbreaker (if it's really cold) or as a breathable outer layer. I actually love the way the breeze can get through this when I'm biking, it's the perfect combination of warm/cool for outdoor exercise in cool seasons. Small note: this fleece pills A LOT when it's been through the dryer. It's worth investing in a heavy-duty clothing shaver. Once it's been de-fuzzed, it looks great and is back to normal, but I have to do this once every couple of months.
Fabric pilled dramatically after one wash
I purchased the black better sweater full zip and it pilled dramatically after one wash, which is really disappointing. I tend to buy second hand (I find it fun and also an environmentally sound way to shop) so purchasing this at full price was not a casual decision. I have a 1/4 zip older better sweater that I have washed countless times that has not pilled at all. I called Patagonia to see what they had to say about it; they offered an exchange or return, but I am choosing to keep it-- but I would not wear it anywhere "proper" (i.e. work) as an outside layer, it really looks sad. I plan to de-pill it, but the fact remains it should not be such a pill-fest so immediately.
“Better sweater” huh?
Received this “better sweater” as a Christmas gift. I wore it for one day. One day. Didn’t wash it yet and there are pills all over the forearms of the sweater. I have it in black so it is so very obvious and awful looking. I would expect something like this from a $16 Walmart sweater, NOT a $140 Patagonia. So disappointing.
Terrible quality!!!
Purchased this jacket in October 2020 and have washed it a couple of times and it has these pulls on the entire jacket. It looks really bad. I am disappointed on the materials. I was looking forward to having this jacket for a long time.
Don't bother
My husband bought this for me last Christmas and I've been trying to clean it ever since! It attracts hair, dust, etc. AND it pills. I've tried washing it over and over and have even used a 'de-pilling' device to no avail. I found a razor worked but the amount of time it takes to get it looking presentable is absurd. It requires way too much maintenance for a casual piece of clothing. I'm sorry my husband spent his hard earned cash on this. For the cost of this item Patagonia quality control should have realized the fabric was not up to par. They dropped the ball on this.
