Safe and beautiful place to camp!
As a petite female adventuring solo, my top priority was finding a safe place to camp that was not too far from White Sands NP. I chose Kevinâs place based on the reviews, and it did not disappointâI could not have asked for a kinder, more welcoming host! He had recently built a treehouse-type platform and suggested I pitch my tent on top. The view from there was beautiful for stargazing and watching the sunrise, and I felt very safe sleeping there with his two big, sweet German Shepherds keeping watch just belowâthey even chased off what Iâm pretty sure was an elk that wandered up to my campsite after dark, although they allow the elk to visit peacefully during the day.
It was a brief stay, but I enjoyed visiting with Kevin for a short while and learning a little about âhis peopleâ and life on the reservation, and I felt like he gave me the perfect balance of interaction and privacy. He was also very kind to offer me some coffee, juice, and fruit before I left in the morning. I would recommend staying at Kevinâs place to anyone!
