Gear Portable Fire Pit
Sweet unit. Collapses small into a bag. Sturdy unit. Due to the mesh, burns everything. Huge fan of this pit.
Fireside Pits are Great
I bought two of these at REI this month as Christmas gifts for our adult kids. We have owned one for a couple of years and have traveled with and used it in multiple state parks and national seashores as far South as Key West and North to Quebec, CA. It is lightweight, compact, and efficient. Because of their design it’s even possible to burn the so called firewood that you can purchase at state parks. Because the surface that holds the logs is raised, they’re especially handy when Boondocking or when fire rings at campsites are wet or otherwise gross. We’ve only had a ranger at one park tell us we couldn’t use it. He was an old school character like me.
Best portable pit money can buy.
This fire pit is so easy to set up and break down! Water cools the coals and the frame so pack out is a breeze. Ive used mine to cook, lounge and inspire. I’ve used mine so much I’m about to buy a new fire mesh! If you’re on the fence, buy one!
Must have fire pit
This is my go to fire pit. I can set it up to take advantage of the view that I want to see ( not where the existing fire ring is ) Since I cook over the camp fire, I don’t have to worry about what has been burned in the fire pit previously. The pop-up fire pit is easy to assemble and stores away in a convenient bag. The only downside is that I go through firewood faster since there is air circulating from underneath too.
Favorite purchase form REI yet!
A little expensive but totally worth the money. This is one of my favorite items I have bought from REI and I always get questions about it when I use it. It is so easy to use and cools off withing a few seconds of getting the coals out. Just keep in mind that the mesh is a consumable and you can purchase replacement mesh through fireside outdoor directly. I have had mine for a little over a year and have had couple dozen fires and have just replaced the first mesh. I love how small it packs down and would definitely buy again.
Pop up fire pit
Worked great! Camped in cold weather for 4 days… this little jewel kept us warm!
Great portable firepit!
I bought this a few years back without the heat shield, but it is still an amazing product. I often camp out in the California desert and there are sometimes restrictions on where and how you can make a campfire. This fire pit helps reduce damage to the ground while still enjoying the joys of an open wood fire. The setup is easy and it is very travel friendly.
Great Portable Outdoor Fire ring
I initially purchased the Trailblazer, which was the smaller brother to this one. But I decided to get this one because it was bigger and would be better for a larger group to sit around. The unit is not heavy at all, but I wouldn't recommend it for backpacking. The set up was super easy and the breakdown was just as easy. After having the fire running for a few hours, me and a friend were able to pick it up by the legs and dump the coals. I let it sit for about 1 minute and I was able to break it down and it wasn't hot at all. Put it back in it's carrying case and I was on my way. My only concern is the mesh that holds the coals/logs. After 1 use, you can see that it's sagged a little. But I was able to see replacements available via Amazon for about $24. So not too expensive to replace.
I like it!
I'm hoping that this will solve our problem of fire pits rusting out. Fireside sells replacement parts, which I really like - that is honestly the mark of a good product in my opinion. The heat shield attachment isn't great, so I just lay it on the ground underneath, and it does keep the grass from getting scorched. The whole concept of the bottom screen makes the fire burn amazingly well, but you might go through wood a little faster. I'm quite impressed. It's been working well so far.
Less smoke, great fire - pleasantly surprised!
We were not sure what to expect from this product, but it fit the bill in terms of the description of being a lightweight, less-smoke, easy-to-use portable fire pit. So we gave it a try. Just used it today to try it out and have to say, this is a great product! It's assembles very quickly, we put in some logs which caught very quickly and because of the design, the flow of oxygen created a robust fire that burned smoothly without needing much adjusting. Foresee many places this will be great to have. Highly recommend.
