Yes it can be used with both eyes open with some practice and it can be used with back up irons, but that is not necessarily the best option or the best way to use the rifle scope.
Put this on a 11.5 upper, love black/tan schemes.
The finish on this scope really pops and is a nice cherry on top of the upper.
