Update to my March 1st 2024 review. Looks like I got a good one. Know what youre buying and have Depot do 10 for 10 at least. Im using a UTG hunter 3-9x40 with Accushot high pic rings. Best to use the pic rail on this one. Cleaned barrel with Balistol thoroughly before 1st shot and clean barrel every 200 rounds or so. Used moly paste on all metal to metal pivot points etc.. Drop of silicone oil in cylinder every 200 rounds. Do not store this stock down. I store mine horizontally as the Hatsan gas rams have a rep for giving up. Have close to 1000 rounds now and it hasnt missed a beat. Not as hold sensitive as my lighter break barrels and very accurate. Quieter than my Gamo Magnum GR. Really likes Polymags and JTS domes. Bluing and machining arent the greatest, its not a pretty rifle, but its a performer. 100 $ less than the 135. Just make sure you get a good one in the beginning and if you can handle the weight and the cocking force youll be happy.
Pros
Reliable thumper
Cons
None
Packs an effing wallop for sure. A bore laser to sight in my red (green) dot sight w/red laser pointer makes this accurate to 100yds easily.
Pros
Very powerful and loud. nice pk rail for my red dot sight. It's a self contained shooting platform, no need for a pump or canister. There's plenty of ammo to choose from and I'd be confident it'll take down anything from a deer on down to a turkey or rat. I haven't hunted with it yet but when the need arises I'll be happy to take this into the forest. I also removed the stock to shorten it's over long profile and I like it more for that, I'll include some pics.
Cons
Not much of a con but it's very hard to cock but that's the charm, no PCP to mess with or fail.
Oh, and I could only upload one picture and that sucks!
Air Gun Depot are good people and do everything they say their going to do! And Cameron is a good Dude! No other way to put it!
Pros
Perfect for small game
Cons
Nothing
Pros
I can not say to much about the Pros accept that it looks good and feels well made
Cons
Cons mine shoots low and to the Right no mater what I do Shemed Scoped or iron Sighted it has not been enjoyed.
Pros
Well finally got to shoot this monster. WOW, if you want a break barrel that throws some serious lead this gun is for you! No joke, packs a punch! Nice triger haven't adjusted it yet but good where it's at. It is a little harder to cock than my Gamo whisper but getting better with use. Open sights are a little rough but putting a scope on anyways. No bad things to report yet but will update after more lead goes flying.
Be careful where youre shooting it
Pros
I love this gun has become my favorite out of the 10 I own hard hitter little hard to cock but thats why it hits so hard would recommend this gun
Cons
None
If you want a real thumper for a reasonable price buy it. Be prepared for the effort it takes to cock this thing, but its worth it. Will probably cock extremely hard till its broke in. Make sure you have a firm grip on the barrel and dont slip. Probably delivering 30 pounds or so down range. Rear site was a little loose when I received it but got it tightened and its reliable. Getting ready to install a Bug Buster and I cant wait. Just hope the piston holds up over time. I have not bought a Hatsan in the past because of the apparent issues they have had with pistons, but I just couldnt resist the 30 cal. I will keep it lubed with silicone oil and hope for the best. Cannot stop shooting this thing.
Pros
Real thumping power for a break barrel.
Cons
Nothing really, cocking effort was really hard for the first 50 or so rounds, then it started loosening up.
Question?
Login to ask someone who bought this product.hi I wondering whats the difference between this and the 135 and what one I should get. Also I want this for medium sized game like coyotes and foxs. I believe it will with diesels pellets it should go around 800 fps with 45 grain pellets which is around 63 foot pounds anyone got opinions on that?
asked Sebastian from USAWhat youre really talking about is detonating not dieseling. A little dieseling is normal for break barrels. Detonating is dangerous and not smart. Especially with the Hatsan gas rams that have a reputation for quitting. If you want that kind of power look through the PCPs or actual firearms. You could seriously injure or even kill yourself detonating a break barrel.
Joel from USACan it blow through a 2x4 ?
asked Vincent from USAMaybe a very soft one, but I doubt it.
Joel from USAwill this .30 kill roosters? roosters just laugh when hit with my .22 even though it has over 1000 fps. Roosters are tough. I've killed more pigs with my .22 than roosters. their feathers are chain-mail!
asked John from USAI have tried several types of ammo from pellets to slugs. This gun is accurate to around 35 to 40 yards before it falls of. Slugs do not work, not enough power. Stick with pellets. If you want accuracy and storing power get a pcp like a Benjamin Bulldog which I own as well. This will do everything you want. So in closing it's good for close range with pellets and does pack a punch up to 35 yards. Hope this helps.
Craig from USAyes, i have shot many with this gun in .30 cal!
Jack from USAhow long can this airgun stay cocked
asked Dominic from USAIve left mine cocked a few hours a few times with no problems. From what Ive learned about the Hatsan gas rams is , dont store these buttstock down. There is a bladder of some sort at the back of the compression chamber that oil builds up on and ruins it. I store mine horizontally and I havent had any problems with lost power or the ram quitting altogether. Mine has well over 1000 rounds through it now and I add no more than 1 drop of silicone oil to the chamber about every 200 rounds.
Joel from USAa few hours, id only leave mine about 15 minutes or so!
Jack from USAdb? noise / sound level?
asked ivan from USACan the Hatsan Vortex 130 shoot pellets with grains of 134 grains be Ok to shoot?
asked Leslie from USANo not in a break barrel. I use hatsan or equivalent around 48 grains if you want any kind of accuracy.
Craig from USAI just bought this gun can it kill a turkey sized bird
asked Wallace from USAyes it can!
Jack from USACan this air rifle safely shoot slugs?
asked Rex from USATo heavy & to much barrel drag contacting the rifling. Pellets have a smaller area engaging the rifling
James from USAWill this rifle accept conical slugs like those sold by Griffin and Apex?
asked Rex from USADoes this pellet rifle create enough fpe to humanely eliminate foxes and coyotes ?
asked Joe from USAI noticed inside of the hatsan 130 & 135 there is a PCP style port near the rear of the compression tube.. over the trigger assembly that a PCP fill probe goes into that allowed me to pump up the gas ram to 200BAR! the FPS went from the factory 550fps to .. now the 44.75 grain pellets fly at a constant 610fps... Almost 37fpe! On PA's calculator.. but the cocking effort is definitely increased... Not for the weak.. It's now worth taking out hunting medium sized game out to 75yards.
James from USANo, not unless you're very close (10 yards) and hit them square in the head. You need a .45 or .50 for that.
Cory from USAYes
Rex from USA
Pros
The gun shoots good.
Cons
It's heavy and the scope is ok
