Blackops Gamer Ski

Rossignol has expanded its Blackops line to include a playful yet powerful option with its Blackops Gamer Ski. With a powder-specific 118mm waist and poppy poplar wood core, the Blackops Gamer will float through waist-deep pow while retaining a confidence-inspiring feel when you’re pointing ‘em straight down tight chutes or pillow lines. The secret? ABS inserts within the ski gobble up vibration to reduce chatter while Diago fibers (the same used on Rossi’s race skis) help stiffen up the ski, so you don’t feel like you’re left with a couple of noodles when you need to really drive them at high speeds.

The ski that stomps

I have skied the BlackOps 118 in the 186cm on many powder days here in Utah and beyond. Other than just skiing pow, I have ridden spring crud, firm, and groomed snow. I skied this board for four winters, averaging 60 days a season on it. I have put it through the wringer. And I can say after all that time - I HIGHLY suggest this skis. The ski is the perfect tool for an expert skier looking to charge through deep snow in trees, off cliffs, and hit natural booters all over the mountain. The ski is a good stable platform but also maneuverable. The dampness of the ski allows me to stay stay solid on my skis through bumps and chunder, and the rocker profile allows me to quickly initiate a turn through tight trees and in deep snow. It is a very versatile and fun tool for a ski in this class. I never had a moment where I felt like the ski was going to either get away from me or that I was going to kick out in a turn. They are the perfect balance of aggressive and playful. For the modern freeride skier, there is not much else you could ask for. I have also found the construction to be top notch. The base material and sidewalls held up well through many impacts. If you are an advanced or expert freerider looking to turn the entire mountain into your playground, buy a blackops and see what happens. You will not be disappointed. This ski must be in your quiver.

Powder ski for those who charge

I demoed these skis on a pow day. They were stiff and could be charged all day. The popular style of soft skis is not my style. I like my skis long and stiff. I am 5'10" 180 lbs. I have a problem that I thrash ski gear too hard. These skis are sturdy. They feel like a racer's powder ski. They also ski switch really well. After one day of riding these skis I have fallen in love.
