Why We Like The Sportsman Autopilot 136 Kayak

Old Town not only motorized the Sportsman Autopilot 136 Kayak, but also equipped it with a Bluetooth-connected remote that provides hands-free navigation so we can cast more and paddle less. The remote features Autopilot navigation that adjusts the motor's speed and direction displayed on a sun-friendly screen, and Spot-Lock technology keeps the kayak in place when we've reached our destination.

Better than I had expected

My Old Town Autopilot 136 in gray Ghost Limited Edition arrived yesterday. Was wrapped nicely in heavy gauge plastic to protect it. After unwrapping and looking it over I found the Kayak to be of very thick and well-built materials. It is a heavy craft but the quality is amazing. Customer service was very easy to deal with and quite helpful getting me the answers I needed. Very spacious kayak and lots of room for everything I want to add. Cons- I wish they gave an option for aluminum rails to replace the plastic ones. Though the plastic ones are strong I just like heavy duty for fish finders etc. I also wish they would list the model number of the included trolling motor to make it easier for looking up spare or backup parts. Would I recommend this kayak to friends? without a doubt.

Questions on 2022 - 2023 Model

Is there a 2022 model yet and will there be a 2023 model different from the previous years? Also from what i see the 45 lb thrust motor doesn't cut it for speed compared to other electric motor options that have speeds up to 15mph. I would however like to troll offshore in Florida on calm days which requires about 5 - 7 mph. Will there be any other motor options in the future? I've seen many many comments regarding that so I dont see why such a simple option wouldn't be worked in for the consumers. Thank you for any assistance on this matter.

Love my AP 136

I bought my Auto Pilot 136 last summer and can’t say enough good things about it. It does a great job operating while fishing in a moving river, and makes those long trips across the lakes effortless. I’ve had issues with the spot lock under or next to bridges but it has never been a large margin of error. Weight is an issue being solo but with the correct gear it’s no problem. The storage area is like the trunk of a car, definitely great for all day fishing. This kayak immensely increases my fishing time while on the water, leaving me plenty of room to stand and fish, not feeling cluttered by fishing and camera equipment. It’s very well balanced for me even at 6’3” tall. There are some issues like the drainage in the cup holders, but nothing that affects my fishing or time on the water. If kayak fishing is what you like, and you are out there a lot, it’s most certainly worth the $
