I love everything except for the pilling

Bought this in Nov 2019 and would have returned it in early 2020 due to the constant pilling, except for Covid and the resultant lockdown. Functionally is nice and warm. However, the pilling is really bad and it looks tatty. Can't really wear it on video calls now with clients as the pilling shows! What high tech problems we have in Covid times.

Functional with thoughtful design--a bit loose

The covert is cozy, and I pretty much wear it all day at home. I really appreciate the inner mesh front that allows for venting/temperature control, especially with the hand pockets open. For my body type, it fits a little loose. This is considered a "regular" fit under Arcteryx, and I'd definitely say it's not form-fitting. The cuffs aren't as tight as I'd like and often cover parts of my hands, unlike my other Arcteryx jackets in the same size. If you're planning to layer under this and you have small/slim build, then it will likely be fine. I'm 5'4"; 122 lbs; got a size small. Probably should've gotten an XS, but that wasn't in stock at the time.

very warm sweater

very high quality, the "alpenex heathered" does the job and it is very warm, fits even to 6-7 degrees (ces) and maybe less i didn"t check. my first time in arcteryx and i am very happy and i recommend also to freinds, it have two layers all over the chest and in the pockets, each winter my hands get's cold and now with these sweater and my hands inside the pockets i don't have this problem!!! (i was very suprised from that) i wear several companies (marmot mountain hardwear) and i think that arcteryx is one off the quality companies. meybe the sweater is a little expensive but i think it worth the price to those who knows about quality thank you arcteryx!

Fantastic Lightweight Option

What an awesome mid layer. I am extremely impressed with this piece as I was looking for something warm, something I could wear around the office, and something I could wear out around the town. This really does check all of the boxes. The other impressive thing is that it is extremely light! Lighter than I expected. I have an old Regent cardigan, and I thought this would be similar…it is WAY lighter. I do gave the Patagonia better sweater, which I'll admit I do love. However, it is much heavier and thicker, whereas this cardigan is thinner, lighter, and (from what I can tell) equally as warm. Very happy with this product.

Wear With Jeans or With Ski Pants

Need a warm mid layer? Need a fleece that doesn’t look like ski attire? Need it to fulfill multiple roles in your life? Here is your new fleece to consider. The relaxed fit allows this jacket to be used as a mid layer without having the armpit seems wedged into your armpits. This is great for comfort, mobilty and not smelling like a mountain goat later in the day after skiing or snowboarding. No one likes pit sweat from tight synthetic clothing, besides synthetics tend to promote more BO over natural fibers. Because of the jackets more mature look, it can be worn for your casual get together or when you simply want to be cozy without looking like a ski bum.

Warm, soft and good fit

After reading through the reviews on this I was concerned about pilling however there doesn't seem to be happening on mine so far! I wear a backpack most days and no pilling on the shoulders yet where it rubs. The jacket is warm, soft and fits really well. It looks pretty smart so I'll be using both casually and at work in! The only tiny niggle I have is that the cuffs could be a little tighter. Although they do still work well and spring back to shape even after wearing it with the sleeves pulled up all day. Possibly one of my favourite pieces and fits well under my Atom LT, Zeta AR and Interstate Jackets.

Immediate Pilling, Huge Disappointment

I was excited to get the Covert Cardigan, as the fit and feel seemed great. The trimmer cut seemed like it would increase versatility and allow the fleece to be easily used as both a mid and an outer layer. After just two weeks of use, though, the jacket is already seriously pilling all over the place--and just from casually wearing it inside the house! This product is an utter disappointment and is making me rethink the high esteem in which I held the Arc'teryx brand. A price tag of more than $200 should assure one of a quality product, and this cardigan is far from it. I have less expensive fleeces from other companies that have lasted 15 years of active use without pilling or falling apart, and Arc'teryx really cut back on quality here and took its customer base for granted. I bought this from REI and wish I had dug into reviews and returned the thing before I wore it. I recently visited the Arc'teryx website, and it seems that many other customers are indeed encountering the pilling issue and are being left with a shabby, overpriced product that falls apart almost immediately. So extremely disappointed in Arc'teryx and their unwillingness to support their customers. The company points people to a "Product Service Request" form where nothing is remedied in any way. Don't waste your time or money. Arc'teryx really doesn't care anymore.

Excellent garment, great warmth & relaxed fit!

This covert cardigan is very warm, serving as a perfect mid layer on cold days, and an outer layer on cool days. It is great for hiking, skiing and other outdoor activities. This cardigan is constructed with impeccable craftsmanship, and is also stylish. The laminated pocket zippers are rugged and should provide for long term wear. A wide range of movement is provided by the relaxed fit. I now have three of these cardigans and would not give them up. I highly recommend this garment for anyone who is serious about outdoor activities, wants to keep warm and is willing to pay the price for quality workmanship.

Early thoughts

This was recently purchased, so I don’t have a great deal of experience with it. My early experience with it is that it is comfortable, relatively warm, and, like most Arc’teryx products, is well built. Having a full length zipper makes it easy to take on and off. The side pockets and arm pocket are nice to have. One thing I would like to see is the lining went down the sleeves. If I am wearing short sleeves it is easy to pull on and off. However, if I am wearing a long sleeve shirt, pulling it on and off proves more challenging. Overall, I like the piece and have been wearing it often. Fits true to size.

Pilling

I've been a satisfied Arc'teryx customer for many years and I'm a big fan of the usually outstanding quality of the products. Unfortunately I was completely disappointed when I bought a Covert Cardigan. After the jacket was only worn 4-5 times at home and washed once (according to the instructions), it shows pilling in many places, which is absolutely unacceptable for a product with the Arc'teryx quality standards. The material is unsuitable.
