The Materials

The Forest Lantern is made from only three materials: stamped steel, plastic, and rubber. Durable in nature, they can withstand years of useโ€”from the backyard to the backcountry. Stamped steel protects the interior lighting cover while still keeping the design lightweight and practical.

The Inspiration

Design inspired by nautical, vintage caged lanterns that provided much-needed light when navigating difficult terrain and conditions, both in the forest and at sea. Metal caging protected the delicate, historically glass globe and helped increase functionality. Typically hooked at the top with a rubber bottom, these lanterns could be hung for elevated lighting or placed on surfaces when the user needed both hands for a job.

The Design

We took all the classic components of the vintage caged lantern and added modern functionality and high-quality output. The rechargeable battery, with adjustable brightness, mimics the warmth of a fueled flame on a wick. Durable stamp steel pays homage to the original construction with added protection. Details in the nameplate and charging lights elevate the esthetic and make it an iconic piece in the Barebones lighting collection. Use it to navigate your own difficult terrain or simply illuminate a card game in the backyard; this light is meant for all to enjoy.

    Amazing customer service !

    I purchased this for our home in the dark winter nights of Alaska ! We donโ€™t currently have electricity in our sitting room by our fireplace and wanted a lantern I could charge and hang for a light ! It had issues and I sent an email and immediately got a response and was sent a replacement lantern. I was very impressed with the quality of customer service and what beautiful lanterns these are ! I have three of the other smaller lanterns for my boys. Great company !!! I highly suggest them.

    Replaced Lantern

    Last lantern had a short in it. Received the new lantern via customer service. The Barebones customer service is incredible and their shipment to me was very quick. I love this lantern. Itโ€™s so cool looking and the fact that itโ€™s rechargeable is so functional. I highly recommend this product and this company.
