Like all of Schmidt & Bender’s premium optics, the 3-18x42mm provides outstanding optical performance thanks to a patented optical design. This is most evident in the scope’s impressive 92% light transmission, a crucial feature for identifying quarry and engaging targets in poor light conditions. The 3-18x42mm’s massive field of view (43.5 feet @ 100 yards), which provides enhanced situational awareness especially when focusing on fast moving game or when stalking. Other features of the 3-18x42mm Hunting Riflescope include the LPI and the BDC II-B. The LPI feature combines the parallax adjustment into the illumination control, providing better mounting solutions, and accommodating left-handed use. The illumination control is located on the outer side, and features 11 illumination levels with off positions between each level. The lager knob next to the main tube operates the parallax control, and features extremely precise adjustments. Both the illumination and parallax controls are effortlessly distinguished by size and feel of the knobs even when wearing gloves, and the engraved marking are easily read in a shooting position. The BDC II-B feature allows the operator to accurately compensate for bullet drop at extended distances, and is easily calibrated based on the ballistic specifications of the rifle. The BDC II-B turret provides 6 position indicators marked 1–6 which correlate to 100 yards, and the position indicator can be placed at any position on the turret according to the ballistic coefficient.
