Best Rain Pants
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- XS/Reg
- Height:
- 5' 4"
- Weight:
- 125
These rain pants are the perfect shell. With a base layer underneath, they don't even feel like rain pants due to the stretch and soft fabric. A definite step up from standard noisy rain pants. I took these with me on a summit climb of Mt. Rainier this past summer and they performed great in light drizzle and winds.

Awesome pants… just being short problems
I loved loved the fabric and everything bout them! I am 5’2 128 lbs. The medium just did not fit. A taller friend than mine loved them and bought them from me. So short problems!

Just what I was looking for
Easy to get on and off with these full side zips. Wore them on a rainy hike and they were perfect. My only suggestion? Make pants in “short” for those of us 5’2” and under. These are a little long when worn alone, but fine with gaiters.

Good ski pants
I like these more as a light, waterproof layer for AT skiing than as rainwear. They have a really nice stretch to them and I'm glad I could get them in longs. The waist is stretchy but sits snug and hasn't fallen down on me. They are pretty breathable and fit well over a pair of base layer tights and are a good defense for gusty winds and snow. The full length zipper is also really nice for opening up the bottoms of the pants to get my boots on and to make adjustments and also for zipping open the sides to vent heat. The cuffs at the bottom are big and roomy, which is nice for ski boots but I don't know how much I'd like that for other footwear while hiking.

Snug at the waist; large through the legs
I'm an XS in all MH apparel, and like the Acadia line of hiking pants, the Stretch Ozonic pants are slightly tight around the waist, but very roomy at the legs (even moreso than other pants, and I don't consider myself to have skinny legs). Otherwise, good water protection after a few uses, and very lightweight/packable for backpacking/climbing. Material isn't super comfortable to wear alone against skin, but fine for layering (if you can fit them over other pants).

Perfect for walks in the rain
Perfect for walks in light rain- they kept me dry. They are thin so I wear a base layer under them when the temps drop. I’m 5’4”, weigh 115 lbs and ordered an XS- I would not want them any tighter or any longer. Fit is more flattering than other rain shells I’ve tried

Runs large!
I bought these pants hoping they could be my go-to backpacking pants. Unfortunately, I was swimming in even the XS (I am 5'4" and about 115-120 pounds). I had to send them back!

Very breathable and great fit
I bought these to have lightweight rain pants. I am 6' tall with a 36" inseam and these fit well, like most Mtn Hardwear pants. They work great as rain pants. Earlier this winter I threw them on one day to go off-trail nordic skiing because it was very windy. I expected to get pretty sweaty in rain pants but didn't at all. Since then I have skied in them numerous times. With wool long underwear underneath and the ability to side vent they make a great shell pant for day long hiking or skiing trips. They are also easy to take on and off over regular xc ski or hiking pants without moving your boots. If I could change one thing I'd replace the top velcro side closures with a snap because my pack strap sometimes rubs them loose. Other than that these are great, versatile pants.

Material too delicate for hiking
I wanted to love these pants so bad! I've worn them once to hike a 14er and noticed small tears in them afterwards. I didn't even feel any snags at the time. They shouldn't be advertised for hiking and backpacking if the material is this delicate!

Breathable, but not waterproof
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I do like these pants, I'm 5'10 & 140lbs and I got an xs-long. They fit beautifully, I'd recommend going with one size up if you want to layer the pants with anymore more than a pair of shorts or leggings, though. I wanted a more flattering fit, and thats exactly what I got. I ordered the small as well to try, and they also fit wonderfully. The pants are super easy to take on and off and great for protection from the wind. I didn't do a rain hike, but I did sit in a puddle on accident and it immediately soaked through the pants and to my leggings. So I would not call them waterproof by any means and for that reason I would recommend perhaps finding something more waterproof (as these are more so water resistant, which is how they are advertised) for a better price. Again, love the way they feel, fit, how easy they are to take on & off, how lightweight they are. But for the price, I'd like something a bit more waterproof/resistant. I don't expect them to stay dry if I jump into a pool, but I would imagine they would give me a minute or two of protection from sitting on a puddle.
