Why We Like The Tiger 2 Cycling Shoe

Sidi's Tiger 2 Cycling Shoe is efficient, durable, and easy. It's that mountain biking shoe that offers no pressure zones and a supportive fit. An integrated heel cup avoids deformation after extended wear, and a rubber toe resists impacts from debris when we're cycling. When we're climbing steep hills, we won't have to worry about our foot or heel slipping around. Its durability works in tandem with its comfort features, and an adjustable retention device reinforces and improves fit by securing the back of the shoe around the rider's heel. Tecno-3 Plush Flex does the job of eliminating pressure zones on the instep, but it also improves the feeling of closure. It allows the rider's foot to feel conformed but not restricted, and it guarantees micro-adjustment for complete customization.

Great shoes

These fit me well. I had some other shoes that were too narrow and these are good - in between narrow and wide for me. Noticeable stiffness and power transfer - excited to get out this spring and work on some PR's.

Tecno-3 Shreds

Familiarity:

I generally like Sidis, as I find they usually last a while and have replaceable parts. But not these! The Tecno-3 closures are ill-conceived, as the lower lace rubs against the side opening edges of the shoe and ends up shredding after about a season. Replacements are really hard (and confusing) to find--make sure you get the "Tecno-3 Push Flex," nothing else--and cost $100 for two new closures. When I finally go through my spare closures, I'll dump these shoes and get something else.

Not great

The shoe looks great but the fit and functionality of the tightening mechanisms are ill conceived. The shoe is very wide. I have an average width foot, but this shoe runs wide. The tongue Velcro is more annoying than useful and generally requires a lot of moving around as you ratchet the tighteners. The heel tighteners are a joke and do very little to make the heel fit snugly. I have used Sidi shoes for more than 20 years, and this shoe has been the worst one yet…and the most expensive. I kept the shoe thinking maybe it will get better, just needs to be broken in. Nope just not the right shoe. Definitely try it on before buying.

So Much Better Than BOA!

Familiarity:

I got these shoes to use for long distance riding and XC racing. Prior to these shoes, I’ve used a carbon-soled cycling shoe from Specialized, Giro, and Shimano as well. Between all of these shoes I have found that the design of the SIDI shoes are my personal favorite. One of my favorite things about their shoes is that they use their own Tecno-3 Push Flex dials, which I have found to be much more secure and durable than the BOA dials. Another cool thing about this shoe, is the adjustable retention device that makes it so that you can have your shoe fit securely around your heel, which makes the shoe a lot more comfortable, and feel a lot more secure during my rides! I have also really liked how lightweight these shoes are. Despite how comfortable they make the shoes, they are still very breathable, and very light. The super stiff carbon sole helps with that, and also makes the power transfer a lot more direct, and a lot more efficient. As far as the fit goes, I have found that the shoe fits a little bit narrow, but is a little bit bigger in the toe box. I personally have never had any issues with this fit. If you are looking for a race shoe that checks all the boxes, the SIDI Tiger 2 is easily my favorite shoe now!

Fits large for a traditional Sidi

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Also disappointed in the sizing change. Literally decades of Sidi use, with the same size always fitting like they were hand made just for my foot, these shoes come wider/more roomy. Length seems the same. Nothing that doesn?t cinch down fine so they are very usable. But annoying none the less given the cost. Since internet shopping now rules, there is no way to try on shoes like these. No LBS is going to stock high end shoes in all sizes. Just frustrating all around. Ignoring the fit issue, these are great shoes?

I've ridden Sidi for years and have loved. They've made changes to this shoe to make it much worse. They added a "tongue keeper," which makes it harder to get the tongue in the right place. They reduced the surface area underlying the boa dials adding pressure and pain to your instep. They moved the boa "eyelets" to lower on the shoe allowing for boa lace bite. The shoe also fits a bit looser so it might go from comfy to too roomy. Why? Why does the industry make change for the sake of change instead of assured improvement? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
