Why We Like The Copper Canyon Tent

We bring the whole family to stay inside the Eureka Copper Canyon 12-person Tent. Two rooms separate the kids from the adults, while vertical walls and detachable awnings maximize available space. Cabin tents of this size can get stifling, but six large zippered windows allow for serious airflow, and when you recline on your cot at night, Recline StomShield clear panel skylights allow for stargazing. This twelve-person freestanding tent is like your own personal five-star hotel, just without 2 AM room service.

Improvements needed

This tent would be ideal if the windows were zippered and it had a solid roof. The wind just wicks away all your heat because you can't seal it off better. Probably just fine for warm weather camping.

Nice tent with a few flaws

I have only used the tent once for a seven day long camping trip in Northern Minnesota. Pros: lots of space for the family and we stayed dry throughout multiple rain showers and a moderate thunderstorm. No water leaking tin the tent hat we could detect. Cons: Out of the box, the front door zipper was very hard to open and close. My kids could close it all the way by themselves. We used the backdoor, as it did not have this problem. We like to open the tent up completely in the morning. This was simple with our old tent that had zippered window covers, but it was a pain to do all the window fasteners with this tent. We ended up not opening every window cover because it took too long to close it back up again when we were ready to leave the site. The tent stakes are skinny and bend easily in hard/rocky ground. Finally, the corner tie out strings that were hidden in roof pockets somehow still got wet during the trip (we did not take them out or use them). When we got home, I had to pull all of them out of the pockets and they took a really long time to dry. The rest of the tent dried hours before those strings did. Overall, the tent is good but the cons kept me from rating it higher.

Great height.

Bought from local store basically sight unseen. Instructions included in the tent are lacking to say the least. Luckily, I have put a few tents in my day to figure it out. I was disappointed to see the floor material was the same as the sides. I am used to tents in the price range to have a more rugged floor. The tent bag is junk, needs to be of much sturdier material. The bag the tent poles are in is reenforced well enough. Tent bag already has small slit and one of the pole chases has already split and I have only put it up twice now. The fly should extend out a bit further from the windows they are too exposed, I am not confident yet how it will stand up in rain. I am six foot tall and I love the head room, I can walk around inside without any issues. Can’t figure out internal grommets on four corners of floor and ceiling, what are their purpose? Some cool accessories?

Waterproof!

The first time we used our Copper Canyon LX it down poured. There were no leaks at the seems. There was one small spot on the floor that was slightly damp. When we moved the tent the next day, there was a large puddle that had accumulated on our footprint where that small spot was. The tent really kept the water out. It was not that hard to put up but it helped to have 2 people and that my husband is tall.

Spacious

We bought this tent so we could "separate" ourselves from our kids while camping. This tent is HUGE and it has been great so far! We love all the screens/airflow and having two doors is great! We had some trouble figuring out how to set up the tent the first time but once we did a practice run we were good to go!

For the size of tent the material is better than o

I just purchased this tent of the Eureka website. I have been camping 40+ years in Michigan and have a family of 5. This tent was fairly easy to set up, but I have set up many styles of tents in my time. Once it was up only a few adjustments. Keep the windows closed for easier door opening and closing. Material seems to be adequate for long term use, but definitely better than other cheaper tents. I just wanted a better quality tent that was larger in space. I will check in once I have a few trips under this tent.
