Avoid - overpriced, poor quality for Arcteryx
I bought this jacket about 1.5 years ago, live in Michigan. It's incredibly warm, but this jacket does not hold up whatsoever. Almost one month in (of wearing while commuting to and fro work) the seams started to spread and all the interior contents began spilling out. It was a big joke at work that I was actually stuffed with feathers instead of organs because they just started pouring out constantly. Then, just minor trauma causing splitting of the outer lining (not at the seams), causing more and more interior packing to fall out. It's now been 1.5 years, I honestly think I've probably lost 1/4 of the inner packing.

Rubbish build, rubbish materials.
To say the least, this jacket is disappointing and not at all what I would expect for the price tag and from the brand. I have owned it since August 2023, and have worn very infrequently over the year and 4 months (I have 6 other jackets I wear and have a work coat that I wear daily). - the insides of the pockets have basically started to disintegrate. All I carry in my pockets are my phone, my wallet occasionally, and my fob to my flat. - the zip pops open in the seam. This means I have to tug it out to do it back up again. It can be extremely embarrassing when I’m out and about and this happens. I bought a medium, and it is by no means tight on me. For some perspective I wear small T-shirts. - the front of the jacket now has around 4-5 holes in them. I genuinely believe this is from the feathers themselves poking their way through the material as it is that fine and delicate, I say this as one of the holes I did notice the feather and I tried to poke it back in and noticed that it has caused a tear. - the shoulder area has two large rips also in different places, again I believe from the same thing. - the threading down where the zip connects to the material has began to fray all the way down. If Arc’teryx try to resolve this issue with me I will update this review.
Hi there. Thanks for sharing your feedback on the Cerium Hoody. We are sorry to hear about the issues you encountered with the fabric. We noticed you filled out a Product Service Request form and we hope our team can come to a suitable solution for you.
Zipper Failure after two seasons
The Cerium Hoody was purchased late 2020 and really has seen two seasons. I have two other Atom hoodies that I use for my high intensity outdoor sports ... skiing and camping. The Cerium has been used mainly as a dress jacket and around town. I was very disappointed when the zipper failed at the collar ... the zipper is much lighter in this jacket than the Atom ... I would not recommend this jacket for that reason.
Hi Andrew. Thanks for sharing your feedback on the Cerium Hoody. We are sorry to hear about the durability issues you experienced with the front zipper. We noticed you filled out a Product Service Request form and we hope our team can come to a suitable solution for you.
Horrible jacket after you washed it never again
Jacket is good until you washed it,company won't take responsibility for it ,even after I send it to their repair shop, still the insulation is missing
Hi there. Thanks for sharing your feedback on the Cerium Hoody. We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the down clumping after washing it. Down insulation clumps whenever it gets wet and can make the jacket look like it lost insulation. That being said, this means the down is still humid and needs more time on the dryer to come back to its original state. We recommend visiting our ReCARE page for more information about washing your garments: https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/help/product-care/wash-dry-down/
Almost perfect but no Draft Flap.
I have never owned any Arc'teryx but have had MANY other brands. I really loved the fit and the Eden color of this hoody but for some reason I was always getting cold in it. I could not figure it out until I compared it to many others..... front main zipper does not have a draft flap (WHAT?). This would be an excellent jacket if there was absolutley no wind or if I were not moving, otherwise I was getting a draft up front and totally defeated the purpose of this otherwise excellent piece. Hopefully Arc'teryx adds a draft flat in the future as this is a necessity. Cheers to REI for having a bulletproof Membership return policy, thank you REI!
Warm, flexible and durable
Warm, flexible and durable, I’ve definitely put my Cerium through its paces!
BEWARE THE RUNE COLOUR WAY
BEWARE THE RUNE COLOUR WAY - I love this jacket for its functionality, so much that I bought a second one! However, I am really disappointed in the new rune colour. They dont tell you or advertise that the fabric is transparent and that all the little black feathers inside look like stains on the jacket. I dont know if this was a quality control issue or if this is just how it is, but the jacket advertised on the website looks blemish free. Some may not care about it but for the price I am pretty bummed.
Hello there, thank you for sharing your experience with the Rune colorway! We’re glad to hear you love the jacket’s functionality and appreciate your honest feedback on the fabric transparency. The appearance you’re noticing comes from the naturally darker feathers within the certified down fill we use, as they aren’t bleached to preserve quality. With lighter colourways and the Cerium's lightweight design, this may make the down visible through the outer fabric. We’ll pass along your feedback to our team.
Blown zipper
2.5 stars really, based off longevity not function. 3 years into use and the zipper, specifically the insertion pin, is blown and jacket will not zip. The jacket would still be in use otherwise. While it was well used in wild places, I expected a longer life. That said, up until that point, the jacket preformed great. It’s light, warm, and highly packable. It provides a reasonable amount of wind protection. It keeps it’s loft with light to medium saturation. I took it everywhere. While the jacket preformed, and with me admitting that I put the jacket to the test, I will be shopping a different manufacturer when replacing and hoping for a longer life of working parts.
Hello there, thank you for sharing your feedback on the Cerium Hoody. We're glad to hear that your jacket performed well in terms of warmth, packability, and durability during your adventures. However, we’re sorry to learn about the issue with the zipper after three years of use. We recommend filling out a Product Service, our After-Sales team would be happy to take a closer look at any possible manufacturing defect. Love it
The size small fits perfectly. I'm 5'11", give or take an inch, and 155-160 fits perfectly. In my experience, the jacket has been 100% waterproof in conditions where my buddy's Colombia titanium cirque bowl jacket got saturated around the shoulders. It's warm enough to feel just right, if not a little bit hot, at 1 to -2 degrees with a Delta Hoody and Cormac shirt on underneath. Have yet to gauge the durability but it feels very solid. I also love how dense the down is. My only complaints are that the pockets began to puddle water when my hands were in them and that the hood feels very tight and I cant keep my head all the way up without it pressing on the hood and lifting the jacket (no beanie). The inner chest pocket is large enough to hold a regular-sized card holder wallet and AirPods. Love it so far. Check out my insta or tiktok to see it in action: 647.climbs
Poor quality
I purchased this jacket on December 2024, and after only six weeks of barely using it, the down is already leaking. The feathers are settling in odd areas of the jacket, and there’s barely any left at the back, leaving me exposed. This is extremely poor quality for the price. I deeply regret purchasing it, as I was hoping it would last a good few years. I do not recommend this product at all.
Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear about the down loss in your Cerium Hoody. Some down loss is normal in new garments due to feather quills piercing the fabric, especially at seams. This usually decreases over time. If feathers poke through, gently push them back in to avoid further damage. A down wash and dry cycle with tennis balls may also help restore loft. Normal down loss shouldn’t affect performance, but if the issue persists, please submit a Product Service Request for further assistance. We’re here to help! https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/help/product-service/service-request
