Man, I wanted to love this shirt. When it arrived (on schedule), I put it on right out of the package - great fit / fantastic color / buttery soft. I strapped on my trusty hydration pack and set out for a couple hours in the woods. Then things began to literally unravel. The shirt performed well in all areas except durability. The enclosed photos are from two hours of wear. I know synthetics are subject to pulls but this is way over the top. The OV website opens with a guy in a full pack wearing this shirt. The FB ad included a testimonital of a backpacker calling this his go-to shirt. Well, maybe... I'll repair what I can and use it as a base layer. Man, I wanted to love this shirt.

I just spend several nights in Great Basin National Park. I sweated a lot, but didn't get those salty sweat stains. Even with the sweat and dumping water on it for cooling it never felt water logged or heavy. In fact it's so light I barely noticed it on my during the whole trip. This sun hoodie is now my favorite of any of the other brands I own.
I’m on a mission to find the best budget sun hoodie for hiking and backpacking. I own a $120 hoodie from a big-name brand that’s excellent—but overpriced and not built for the trail. Enter the Altitude Sun Hoodie. Right out of the package, the material felt high-quality and super comfortable.
I wore it all day at my son’s camp in 95°F heat and stayed cool and breathable. It also looks great. My favorite feature in expensive hoodies is odor resistance—this one does retain a little smell, but I really pushed it (no undershirt or deodorant) and it held up impressively well.
For under $50, it’s a steal. Purpose-built for hiking, with a snug elastic hood that stays in place. As others have said, size up. I’m 5’9”, 180 lbs, and the XL fits perfectly—slim but breathable. If you’re a serious backpacker, you’ll want a second one (my spouse does too).
I researched best lite weight sun hoodie and found outdoor vitals and bought two, I have two more coming after wearing in Tahoe area hiking. Best price and tech design. Even though no UPF rating I hiked all day and did not have a problem. My friend hiked in a different brand and we compared notes, both agree, for the money, performance and quality, outdoor vital is the best
