Q: Does NODE come with probes? A: Yes, it depends upon the model. TX-5401 is Ambient only, but waterproof Pro-Series Probes are included in both TX-5403 (1 probe included) and TX-5404 (2 probes included). And both of those models accept any Pro-Series Probes. Specialty NODE kits are available with buffered probes to simulate food items in cold environments where opening and closing doors can affect the accuracy of ambient readings.
Q: Can NODE be permanently powered? A: Yes. NODE has a standard 5-volt power adapter and cable included in the box. Can also be battery powered.
Q: What happens if the power goes out? Do I still get my data? A: NODE will hold 100 readings in memory and will transmit the data when an internet connection is restored. For example, if your transmission interval is set to 1 hour, NODE will store 100 readings over 100 hours or just over 4 days.
Q: Will I get notifications in the event of a power failure? A: Yes, in any paid Cloud tier you can enable Offline Alerts so even if power is out in your location, you’ll get alerts to your devices from the Cloud that transmissions have been missed.
Q: How are notifications managed with NODE? A: Notifications can be set up in the app or cloud. In the free cloud tier push notifications are sent to your smart device(s) as an app notification (the app needs to be installed on the device, but does not need to be open for notifications to be received). Upgrade to a paid tier to have SMS and email notifications sent to all team members based on their specific permissions.
Q: Does NODE have an audible alarm? A: No. But you will receive alerts through ThermoWorks App/Cloud on your phone and/or web browser. There is an alarm bell on the display of NODE that indicates an alarm state.
Q: Why can’t I see my data in ThermoWorks App/Cloud immediately after set up? A: NODE will transmit data on the selected Transmission Interval (default set to 30 minutes). To force a transmission, press and hold the SEND button for 3 seconds.
Q: Is there a way to integrate with NODE? A: You can integrate NODE into your own existing IoT infrastructure. Contact commercial sales for more information.
Q: Are the probes that are included with NODE fully waterproof? A: Yes, the included probes are fully submersible for use in aquariums, outdoors, and wet commercial environments.
Q: How long will NODE typically last on battery power? A: One year is typical with a 5-minute Temp Check Interval and 1-hour Transmission Interval. Battery life may be less or more if these intervals are adjusted. The App/Cloud will make you aware of these times. Battery life is affected by transmission interval, frequency of alerts, Wi-Fi signal strength, and use in colder ambient temperatures. Use lithium high energy batteries to extend battery life. . Remember, NODE can be permanently powered with the included AC adapter or any standard 5V adapter.
Q: What is the Temp Check Interval? A: How often NODE wakes to check temperatures against the alarms and update the display. If an alarm state is found during the Temp Check Interval a transmission is triggered and notifications sent if they are enabled. This allows you to save battery life by extending the transmission interval, knowing that NODE checks for alarm conditions during each Temp Check interval with minimal battery drain.
Q: What is the Transmission Interval? A: How often NODE transmits temperature data to the ThermoWorks Cloud.
Q: Can I force a transmission in between the transmission intervals? A: Yes. Press and hold the SEND button for 3 seconds to initiate a transmission. Any pending updates that are queued up for the next transmission are sent during a forced transmission.
Q: What are the transmission interval limits for NODE? A: By default, NODE is set to transmit every 30 minutes, which is independent from the Temp Check Interval. In the App, the transmission interval can be set from 30 minutes to 24 hours, and in the Cloud the transmission interval has more options, from 1 minute to 24 hours. Readings are sent to the Cloud on the transmission interval – one reading per channel at each interval.
Q: How often does NODE update the readings on each channel? A: The temperature reading(s) on the NODE display is updated at each Temp Check interval and the display automatically switches to the next channel for multi-channel NODEs. Alternatively, pressing the SEND button switches the display to the next channel, updates the temperature reading, and performs a Temp Check.
Q: Can I use NODE in my country? A: NODE has been registered and approved for use in the USA, Canada, EU, Australia, and New Zealand.
Q: What Wi-Fi restrictions are there for setting up NODE on my Wi-Fi? A: NODE uses the 2.4GHz band only. Most routers have 2.4GHz as an available band for use with specific devices. Our technical support team is available with extended hours to help with any NODE setup questions: Mon-Fri, 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Sat, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Q: Is NODE VFC compliant? A: Yes, NODE is compliant with the CDC’s Vaccines for Children program when using the ThermoWorks App and Cloud.
Q: Can I use NODE to monitor my restaurant’s walk-in fridge? A: Yes. NODE would be ideal to monitor all cold holding areas. Set your alarm limits and NODE will send you a notification if the temperature exceeds your alarm conditions. Call our commercial sales team for help finding the best solution for your application.
Q: Is NODE’s Wi-Fi signal strong enough to make it out of my large walk-in fridge? A: In most cases, yes, however signal strength is dependent on many variables including wall thickness of your walk-in, your router’s coverage area, and other interference within the building. In some cases, it may be best to use a NODE with an external probe and leave NODE outside of the walk-in while the probe is kept inside.
Q: What is the accuracy of NODE? A: NODE has a system accuracy (meter and probe) of ±0.9°F (±0.5°C) over its full range with the supplied probes in the correct probe ports. NODE uses Pro-Series probes and can be interchanged; however, system accuracy will be ±0.9°F (±0.5°C) from 32 to 77°F (0 to 25°C), ±1.8°F (±1.0°C) full range.
Q: How do I recalibrate NODE? A: For highest accuracy, NODE systems should be system calibrated at ThermoWorks A2LA accredited calibration laboratory. We recommend a recalibration interval of 1 year.

So Far Completely Satisfied
I need to monitor the temperature in my weekend home and my previous device manufacturer (Lacrosse) no longer supported my devices. So a search revealed Thermoworks Node. The price was initially a little tough to take but the reviews were solid and I wanted good equipment. I placed an order for 3 Node units. The order shipped very promptly and was in my hands in less than 1 week via USPS. I installed the 3 devices yesterday. The setup was very easy. It could be made easier if the Node units were able to search for available wifi networks. You have to enter the SSID manually, along with the password. The app is intuitive, and very easy to use. The alerts for each sensor/ remote can be set and changed easily. Each of the channels can be labeled separately and each Node can also be labelled. Overall, Thermoworks Node devices are well made and meet my monitoring needs perfectly.

Good device but floored system
The None's work great but there is a major floor in the system where ready only access users have the ability to disable and remove them from the system and cloud. This has stopped me from moving forward with them across our organization.

Node does a great job monitoring my garage regrigerator.
The Node does a good job monitoring the temperatures in my garage refrigerator. I monitor the room, freezer and refrigerator temperatures during the winter. I have installed a small wattage light bulb in the refrigerator that is controlled remotely. When the room temperature is low and the refrigerator does not run enough to keep the freezer at the proper temperature I turn on the light until I get a notice from Node that the desired temperature has been reached and the light needs to be turned off.

Reliable
This product works great and just as expected. I use it to monitor a construction site remotely. I love the reliability and it reconnects to WiFi by itself if for some reason the WiFi goes out and comes back on again. One improvement would be if it could notify you if it becomes disconnected from WiFi, so I could send someone to check on it. Right now, it just says the last time the device was "Seen" but if for some reason the power went out, the WiFi would also go out and I wouldn't know about it unless I actually open the app every half out. Also the price was a little steep, but I was willing to pay more for a device that seemed more reliable than what reviews on Amazon have mentioned.

Good Thermometers if you know exactly how it works. It does check temperature e every minutes. 5
Good Thermometers that seem accurate. I called tech support and they validated that the thermometer checks temperature every 5 minutes and reports to the cloud every 30 minutes. Look at the set up settings and it shows it. If the temperature is out of the set alarm settings, it will alarm immediately on your phone. Sending alarms by text or email is extra $.

Solid, blue and not good enough??
It's a solid unit and mine has the singular exterior temperature probe as well. The reason why three stars? It only updates every 30 minutes. That's kind of ridiculous when you have a refrigeration unit go down. Hopefully they can make an app change and a programming change to remedy this. Set at Every 30 minutes, the battery in this thing will last for nine months. If I can get it down to five minutes, I'll gladly charge the battery every month if I have to. Luckily for me, I can plug this unit in and just leave it plugged in . They really need to change this.

FOOD MANUFACTURING FACILLITY
Use these for FSMA/SQF compliance, make continuous monitoring very easy. The alarms have helped us catch down condensers on bulk refrigeration and preventive major ingredient loss.
I would recommend as an affordable & flexible way to monitor environmental temperatures.
Just ensure your network can support 2.4Htz broadband.

Node with 2 Remotes - First Purchase of a WiFi Device from ThermoWorks
Over the years, I have purchased several ThermoWorks items, but this was my first with wi-fi connections. Manufacturers often talk about how easy it is to make the connection and setup the device, but it does not always seem to be that easy. In this case, it WAS as easy as I could have hoped.
I purchased the Node with two remotes so I could monitor my garage fridge & freezer. I quckly learned that my fridge was not as cold as it should have been. After some adjustments, I achieved the desired temps in both compartments.
I have two issues/suggestions - neither of which caused me to deviate from the 5-star rating:
1. It took a phone call to tech support to understand "sessions." Although the app has tools to work with sessions, I learned that they are not applicable to the Node. The rep was very helpful and directed me to the website for a more comprehensive view of my data. It would be helpful it some of the product materials explained this.
2. The suction cups to hold the temperature probes do not stay affixed to my plastic-walled fridge and freezer walls. The tech rep suggested using velcro, but for the time being, I just looped the sensors around the edge of the racks - seems to be working well.
I like this unit so well, that I am considering buying a second one for our inside fridge/freezer. We are away from home at various times and being able to so easily monitor (or be alerted to problems) would be helpful.

Terrible app. Ridiculously high monthly fees to make useful.
The product itself it OK but the app is so bad that it destroys the usefulness of the product.
The logging only updates every 30 minutes on the cloud so forget using this to evaluate recovery times on refrigeration or assessing impacts of defrost cycles. 30 minutes is way too long to be useful so you have to stand in front of the unit and log by hand (which completely destroys the purpose of having a logging thermometer).
In order to get around this issue you have to pay $40/month to Thermoworks so your device(s) can send them a few bytes on information more frequently.
The graphing is also rudimentary and inflexible. They made the least possible effort at a helpful product and want to charge a ridiculous monthly fee for it.
I've used Thermoworks for decades but this product is so bad it makes me want to rethink the relationship.
