Product Description
The Serac is your best bet if you're camping above the snowline. It's filled with ALLIED Feather + Down HyperDRY goose down to provide lightweight warmth, its Pertex® Quantum outer is made using their Y Fuse technology to increase durability, and a DWR coating ensures water can bead and roll off its surface. We've combined vertical and horizontal box baffles to decrease the potential of cold spots and sewn a ½ zip to increase the warmth of the foot box. A second set of zips frees up hands for tasks without sacrificing warmth. Elastic loops let you attach your sleeping mat to the bag, and a fitted hood and collar keep in as much warm air as possible. The soft drawcords are also concealed for comfort throughout the night.Packed dimensions and weights are based on when sleeping bags are purchased, they can be further compressed. This sleeping bag comes with a compression-style stuff sack and a mesh storage bag. Its temperature ratings have been tested to the international ISO 23537-1 standard. It's also made in a large size. Check the size guide for a full breakdown of measurements. The lining fabric is bluesign® approved, which means it was manufactured with the responsible use of resources. This product contains RDS down certified by CU 1210688. The Responsible Down Standard (RDS) (independently) certifies down and feathers against animal welfare requirements and tracks it from farm to final product.

disappointed.....
main fabric is not as good as I used to own similar item. I won't feel it had the 800 fill power and indoor winter use is not a good cold insulation, not to mention the use camping outdoor.

When the weather is horrendous you will be ok .
This is a superb sleeping bag . True it is more bulky than some others but the quality is excellent. Above the snow line it excels, it needs some time to regain its loft . I see some are critical of its warmth , but it is not an electric blanket . Get in warm and you will retain your heat . No bag will generate warmth. Exercise and eat before bed . Good work Macpac. The Serac is the ducks guts .

Good value for specs. Accurate temp rating.
Overall a good bag.
Accurate temp rating, ive had it down to -10 in peru and bolivia, and have been warm with just a thin merino base layer. I would consider myself a medium temp sleeper.
Sizing is quite large, so loads of room for a big down jacket on if need be, albeit at the sacrifice of thermal efficiency.
The pertex quantum is lightweight and comfy, although i question its durability compared to some higher denier fabrics. The fabric is also NOT waterresistant, so if you are looking for a bag for moist enviroments, you might be better off getting something with a pertex endurance or similar outer (oneplanet winterlight, Rab alpine pro). This was an issue for me often, and while the bag stayed warm when wet thanks to the treated down, it did require drying out in the morning. Bag is fine in dry conditions though when tent condensation isnt an issue.
Arm hole is a nice addition, but not 100% nessisary so dont base your purchase on this.
Stuff sack is decent, but needs to be highly compressed to close properly.
Overall its a decent, warm bag, that could have been great if it hàd water resistsnt fabric. It is GREAT value for money, the competition is either 200 bucks more expensive, or a no name aliexpress brand.
For its warmth it is heavy, competators are 200 grams lighter.
Overall i would get this if your going to be in -10 to -15 degrees, and dont want to spend the extra on a better bag like a one planet or rab. I am super happy with it, and will continue to use it on my high alititude missions !!!

Good but not good
I bought this sleeping bag to go hiking in the Indian mountains. It certainly did the job of keeping me warm. On the downside it was way too long for me and didn't come in a smaller size; the zipper didn't unzip right down which was inconvenient if it was a warmer night; our group had horses to carry our stuff which was fortunate because this sleeping bag is way too bulky to carry hiking.
I used it for 16 nights and sold it when I returned.

Bought the serac thinking it would definitely do the job for my season guiding in central Aus. It's comfort grading is -10. However I've felt the cold on nights where it's only dropped to around 3 overnight!
I feel the down isn't distributed evenly especially along the back and these are noticable cold spots within the sleeping bag I received. You shouldn't have to put on tights and an upper body layer in this sleeping bag when overnight temperatures are still above 0.

Great value
I've been looking at replacing my old bag for some time, the new one had to be a four season bag with a curtain amount of water repellency. I narrowed it down to three, the other two priced between $1300 and $1500 so the Serac was hands down in that one, I did sacrifice 300 grams of weight over the high price one, but I will live with that. As a foot note, when I received the bag and opened it up, it felt like a bag full of wet down, it took a good two days for the down to fully loft out, with me giving it a good shake and rub to get the down spread around. So don't do what a friend of mind did with a new bag and that was to take it on a trip above the bush line, the first day he got it, and subsequently he froze.( this wasn't a Macpac bag,)
