Why We Like The XT3 130 Alpine Touring Boot
The XT3 130 is Lange's stiffest ski boot built for backcountry touring, freeride, and big mountains. Its 130 flex prepares you for steep lines, rowdy cliffs, and cruising icy aprons at top speeds. Lange paired its professional-level performance with an equally comfortable fit for more skiers out there. The 100mm last is a perfect balance of roomy comfort and a precise fit, and the Dual 3D Full Liner includes Ultralon foam for easier thermo-molding in key areas. This boot also boasts a burly latch that stays secure in ski mode, and unlatches for a massive 53° range of motion.

I read so many good things about this boot and thought it would simply my boots but I should of stuck with what I had. The walk mechanism is an improvement over prior generations of the XT series but not as good as my prior touring boot I sold. The liner is nice and smooth getting in but after 7 uses is starting to fuzz and show wear. The plastic used in the lower is soft and gets chewed up super easy so don’t plan on climbing over any rocks getting to a line to ski without ripping them up good. The new seal is also garbage, the boot binds up when being closed if you are not super cautious and will cause the plastic to buckle and let snow in. I like to open my buckles in between runs or when hiking and feel like a snowboarder getting bucked. It was a great three hour tour once my left foot was wet. The photos of the toe is after one tour and 3 uses on the mountain.

Probably the perfect boot for a lot of people. If your idea of touring involves a ski area and hiking up that and then heading to the bar after, well Jerry, you found your boot. You can tell all your bros how sick it is and how sick it?s climbs. And then when walk mode freezes open on the top of the mtn in 4? of powder you will be super stoked as well. And then you can tell your bros about the epic fail of a boot.

I?ve heard that because of the PU shell that the Xt3 130 is stiffer than the Xt3 140 Pro Grilamid. Is that accurate? Also isn?t the Grilamid more prone to showing wear more readily? Thanks, Christian H.
