Best trail shoe I have ever had

I beat the crap out of these shoes and put over 500 miles on a pair of these. I spent an entire year putting these shoes through heinous conditions in the mountains of the PNW. I wore them in muddy and rainy terrain in the wet Washington Coastal areas. I wore them in the Cascade Mountains in rocky and abrasive conditions as well. I used them as approach shoes for climbing at the crag because their grip is amazing in any terrain. I used to wear Altras, but these Topos are far, far superior. Altras couldn't stand up to the mountain rigors that I find myself in, but these Topos rise to the occasion. In fact, after spending an entire year training and then running a 100k in one pair of these Topos, I washed them up and now wear them at work in a surgery center where I spend 10+ hours a day on my feet running around. And when I wore them for the first time at work all my coworkers complimented me on my "new shoes". They had no idea they were retired trail running shoes with hundreds of miles on them. I will never buy a different trail runner!

Topo Fan but not anymore

Wanted to love these shoes so much! I have been a Topo customer/fan for a long time, loved their older models MTN RACER and Hydroventure 2, but the quality has declined significantly! Great comfort, love the midsole and outsole, but the mesh upper is horrible! Ripped above the lace system from side to side, not once but twice, all from tripping over a root which as an avid hiker it happens often, and I have never had this issue with any other shoe. You can tell that it is sewn together very poorly. I am so bummed because everything else about this shoe is fantastic but if it doesn't hold up after less than 50 miles, it's not an option, especially a thruhiking option as it's touted. Was looking at MTN racer 2, but won't even consider it because of this issue. You've lost a customer Topo, and I'm so sad!
