Good day trip chair

Greetings from my GCI Freeform Zero Gravity Lounger! I wanted to make sure that I was truly experiencing the moment so that I wouldn’t neglect to remember anything that I feel is important to convey. I would like to start off with thanking The Dyrt for arranging for me to receive this chair in exchange for a fair review!
Now onto business!
Things that I like
- The mesh back makes it nice and breathable
-The armrests are actually something that are comfortable for me to use (I’m 5’3)
-I like being able to lock the chair in at different reclining angles
-I like that the headrest is very adjustable/removable. I usually just take it off when I am upright because I find as a headrest it just is too firm and juts your head way too far forward. When I’m reclined I scooch it down far enough to be a neckrest.
-It feels very durable and this could very well be with me for the rest of my life
Things that I don’t like/you may not like
-This chair fits me perfectly and I’m a size 6, I do not think they have a plus sized version. There is approximately 16” between the grommets, so if you fill up more of the chair and are wearing shorts or something you will come away with some fun indents. The arm rests also jut in at the front where the legs meet the arm rest- the space between these juts is 18.25”. If you are wider than that then you will not be able to fit into this chair without rubbing off some of your outer thighs.
-The drink/phone holder is on the left side of the chair towards the back. I, like the majority of humans, am right handed so this means that I have to either contort my left arm back and up to grab something out of it, or if I am using my right hand I have to rotate my torso more than I would like to in order to grab something. The leg rest adjuster is on the right side, I figure I’m probably reaching for my phone or my drink more than I’m adjusting the leg rest. I’m also not super thrilled with the cup/phone holder being made out of the same material as the seat. My phone is 2 ⅞” inches wide, anything wider than that WILL NOT easily fit into this.
-Sometimes I struggle to get it to recline
-When I am upright I sometimes find myself feeling like I’m putting a lot of pressure on my spine in between my shoulder blades, and this somehow makes my lower back ache a bit. For a $100 chair, I’m not surprised by this.
-Where is the sun shade! This is the latest trend for zero gravity chairs, and considering that other GCI chairs have sunshades it seems kind of silly that this doesn’t.
-Minimal color options across the web.
-This chair allows you to take up quite a bit of space while you are relaxing, so it isn’t surprising that this also takes up quite a bit of space. This took up quite a bit of valuable real estate in my sedan for my camping trip last weekend, so I think that this will be a better day trip chair than a camping chair.

I thought this chair would be nice with the ability to sit up and also pick your feet up. Turns out the mechanism has too many moving parts that are not securely fastened to the rest of the frame, that allows the poles to bind and not operate smoothly. The handle that lifts your feet up has also drawn blood. There is a pinch point on the bottom of it and didn’t take long to find out the hard way. Overall, this chair is too complicated for a outdoor/camping environment.
Great chair! Well worth the money. Don't count on this being your only camp chair though! The shape of if makes it very hard to engage with a fire pit, this is for lounging only; just go buy a $6 secondary camp chair to throw around and beat up. I don't feel hesitant to plop down in this chair at all, it's sturdy and very well built. Other chairs with the same design feel rickety not well held together, this thing feels solid....it IS. The ability to raise the leg rest while the back is locked in place is a feature you'll find yourself using more than you'd expect. Great for watching the stars also. Just do it. Buy it.

Just got it and love it. Not perfect, but great
3 years ago
I went into REI not expecting to get this at all. Sat down on it, and the rest was history. My favorite feature is the ability to recline the legs while sitting up. It's super comfortable. Quite a heavy and bulky chair. Not suitable for camping, these are perfect backyard or beach chairs. I sit in it for 1-2 hours studying.
Note: This chair is not really plus size friendly. I am 6', 200lbs, 34" waist, and fit perfectly. It's a good fit for me. But if you are short or plump, may not be for you.
THIS CHAIR IS GREAT BUT NOT PERFECT:
1. Could be wider to allow for crossing your legs while sitting
2. The cupholder and phone pouch are a cheap, stiff mesh material. Feels really cheap compared to the rest of the chair.
3. The mesh is a little stiff - I'm not sure if it'll break in as I've only had it for two days. It feels supportive and firm, not soft like a hammock. This just means it's sturdy. Not really a complaint.
4. The neck cushion is absurdly stiff and uncomfortable.
Overall: Just get it. For $120 it's a no brainer. Just don't expect a $5000 herman miller eames chair.

Comfortable but poorly constructed
Initially bought 2. One got locked in the upright position and could not get it unlocked to recline unless you got out of the chair and pushed on the head part on it with your hands. We examined it carefully to see if fixable and concluded that something inside the recline mechanism broke. Took back and exchanged for a new one which worked smoothly and is very comfortable in all positions. Meanwhile, the second chair from our original purchase developed the exact same problem the the first chair had-recline mechanism did not work if someone was sitting in it. Now, we are pretty much average size adults, less than 200 lbs, so hopefully it was not due to our weight. We ended up taking both chairs back for a refund because we did not trust that the newest chair would not develop the same problem after a few more uses. The manufacturer needs to beef up the recline mechanism. Crying shame because this chair is very comfortable when it works right.

A Great Chair
I have been using this chair as my main piece of furniture in my living room. I recently moved into a new apartment. It is an upstairs unit in a smaller-sized city where it is difficult to get affordable furniture delivered. I needed something lightweight and comfortable. I sit in a reclined position for several hours a day while doing work or watching TV. It would be excellent for camping.

So Far So Good

So far so good. Pretty comfortable. I'm a bigger human and this works good. Only things that could be a little better, as a bigger guy I think the leg section could be a few inches longer. Sometimes I wish the legs went up a bit higher in the more upright seating position.

DO NOT BUY!
We bought these chairs May 2021 and used them on 3 camping trips that summer. We went to use them this last weekend (memorial day weekend) and one of them is broken. By the end of the weekend packing up the other one wouldn't fold up and broke as well. Huge waste of money just get regular gravity chairs!

Wonderful - best money ever spent

We love our gravity chairs. They are incredibly comfortable for sitting up with a glass of wine or kicking back for a snooze! Because of the weight you aren't going to haul them around like camp chairs but they're easy to fold up & take along.

Genius detail

Very sturdy and comfortable chair. The feature to just lift the footrest is genius. It could be a little longer to accommodate for a 6'+ person.
