Today’s special forces and elite law enforcement professionals face an unprecedented range of threats in the field.
And compromising tactical effectiveness for protection simply isn’t an option.
The TAPR is a modular half-face tactical respirator platform that can be configured to integrate with most popular helmet systems and communications gear. It’s engineered for rapid deployment and reliable protection while preserving combat readiness and freedom of movement.
Designed to integrate seamlessly into your plate carrier, battle belt, or rig with the included pouch, the TAPR is often the best practical protection you can carry against a range of lethal and nonlethal threats.
TAPR's Maximum Flexibility for Limitless Applications
The TAPR was specifically designed to help top operators tackle dynamic, real-life threats. With years of deployment and active combat use, the TAPR tactical respirator is a top choice among military professionals.
Combined with our P-CAN filter for protection against tear gas, the TAPR is an effective and low-profile respirator mask that will work with your existing riot gear.
With a service life of up to 20 years and a hardshell case for easy storage and retrieval, the TAPR is a serious insurance policy for any law enforcement officer or serious professional. It’s versatile, flexible, deploys in seconds, and can be worn comfortably for hours.
Even with the included mesh head harness and a filter installed, the TAPR fits neatly in its included pouch, which in turn fits in the bottom of a backpack, or even a large purse, for discreet but practical protection around the clock.
Optimized for use with the new family of MIRA Safety compact gas mask filters, the TAPR also comes with a P3 particulate filter that can block harmful viral threats, with the option to add a compact NBC-17 CBRN filter to the kit for added protection.
Indoor shooting ranges don’t always have sufficient air filtration to deal with the amount of lead and gases expelled on a busy day. Respiratory protection is critical when discharging firearms indoors, and the TAPR provides a lightweight solution that can also help you train with a mask.
What’s in the TAPR (Tactical Air Purifying Respirator) box?
The standard TAPR Tactical Mask Kit comes with the following:
Made from silicone rubber for comfort, it has two exhalation ports and a central 40-mm NATO threaded filter connector.
Low-profile head harness for use without a helmet or with a helmet without rails, providing full compatibility with the protective headgear used by security forces and rescue teams.
Particle filters provide protection against solid and liquid particles. Filters are divided into classes according to their filtration efficiency. The highest class (P3) provides reliable protection against solid and liquid aerosols and hazardous microorganisms like bacteria, viruses, spores, etc.
Our P-CAN Compact filter was engineered specifically for use by law enforcement against riot control agents. This filter provides respiratory protection against the effects of tear agents, especially CS and CR gases and agents, both gaseous and aerosol based, e.g., in aqueous solution.
Convenient hard travel case when you’re on the go protects the TAPR respirator mask and all accessories from damage.
Made from 600D nylon fabric, it’s large enough to fit an assembled TAPR and accessories. The back of the pouch has MOLLE webbing and built-in snap straps.
Allows a closer cheek weld when using rifles.
Optional Equipment
Along with the basic accessories that come with the TAPR tactical respirator kit, several additional accessories are available to expand functionality:
Make your mask comms-ready with an integrated microphone that’s compatible with Peltor and Ops-Core headsets.
For ultra-secure fitment with most Western helmet systems, the ARC Rail Fidlock buckles are the best possible choice.
This kit allows for rapid deployment of your TAPR with the types of riot helmets that are widely used by police forces around the world, including (but not limited to) the MSA Gallet M05006 and Schuberth P100 series riot helmets.
Standard TAPR masks come with a central 40-mm gas mask filter and an exhalation valve on either side. This is the best configuration for weight balancing, but the central protruding filter can be problematic when you’re shouldering or handling a firearm, especially in close quarters. With the optional “shooter” configuration, the filter port can be moved to either the left or right side of the mask and the Low Profile Exhalation Valve Cover installed on the dominant/“cheek weld” side of the TAPR.
The filter provides reliable protection against solid and liquid aerosols, smoke producing substances, radioactive particles, bacteria, viruses, vapors of organic and inorganic acids, hydroxides, organic solvents with a boiling point above 65°C, ammonia, amines, acid gases, agricultural chemical combustion products, tear-producing agents, irritants, choking agents, blister and nerve agents, (e.g., bromoacetone, CS substance, organic compounds of arsenic, phosgene, hydrogen cyanide, cyanogen chloride, mustard gas, organophosphates) – sarin, IVA, VX and other toxic substances, (e.g., benzene, toluene, vinyl chloride, fluorine, hydrogen fluoride, sulphur oxides, phosgene, phosphoric acid and its organic derivatives, chloroacetic acid, nitric acid, aldehydes, mixtures of inorganic acids and organic substances.)
IMPORTANT NOTE: Half-face masks do not provide sufficient protection from CBRN threats, and the TAPR was NOT designed for prolonged exposure to unknown environments, blister agents, or toxic industrial chemicals.

TAPR (Tactical Air Purifying Respirator) Storage
The TAPR military half-face tactical respirator must be stored in a dark, cool, and dust-free location that’s free from sudden temperature changes. The storage room should be ventilated regularly. Temperatures may vary between 5°C and 25°C with relative humidity up to 65%. Full-face gas masks must not be exposed to radiant heat or sunshine. Fuels, solvents, lubricants, and other inflammable substances, including chemicals, must not be stored with masks. Moreover, there must not be any electrical machines or appliances that produce sparks or discharges during operation (ozone creation).
Avoid deformation of the rubber parts of the facepiece and internal CBRN gas mask during storage.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Ask a Question-
What are the dimensions of the carrying case?
The dimensions of the TAPR's carrying case are 14"L x 12"W x 4"H.
-
Will the M-LOK Adapter be compatible with Team Wendy helmets?
Yes, we've launched a newer version of the M-LOK Adapter Set which will have new nuts and bolts that will make it compatible with Team Wendy helmets.
-
Will this protect against smoke? For example, civilian response into a burning building.
Considering this is a half-face respirator, you'd still risk exposure to smoke and various burning chemicals during fires. For smoke-escape situations, we'd highly recommend our full-face respirators over the TAPR. Just to touch on the subject of what happens during fires: (1) Smoke particles are released. (2) Gases are released as things burn. (3) If you get caught in an oxygen-deprived area, carbon monoxide can form. A P3 filter will work to filter out smoke particles. However, it will not filter the gases that are released when things burn. For that, we recommend a multi-gas filter (like the NBC-77 SOF) that covers many types of gases, as it is unclear what gases you would be exposed to considering the variables. If you are looking for added protection from particles, gases, and carbon monoxide, we suggest using a CO + CBRN filter combo. Please note, however, that carbon monoxide is highly toxic, and smoke escape filters are only rated for 15 minutes of CO conversion (they convert CO into CO2, allowing you to breathe it out). An SCBA system is absolutely your best bet for fires. However, due to the expense and learning curve on how to use it, they aren’t practical for non-professional users.
-
Will the TAPR protect me from lead inhalation at the shooting range?
Yes, it will. This is one of the most practical applications of the TAPR for anyone who likes to shoot.
-
Is this the right mask for me?
The TAPR was developed for military and police use, but it’s a great choice for both tactical and non-tactical situations. It can be paired with a variety of filters to customize it for each situation. It’s also a cost-effective alternative to P100 masks for those in the medical/scientific professions. You can use it like you would any other respirator, but the filtration element is replaceable.
