Worth what you pay
Spending this much money on what is essentially fifty feet of inexpensive rope seems like a rip off. However this item is worth the cost. You can of course get by with just a normal rope with one end tied in a large bowline worn across your torso over your life preserver and the other end tied to a carabiner and a small float. However this NRS setup will be quicker to deploy and easier to release if needed. I was very impressed with the quality of everything in this package. The quick release buckle is very strong—the line will not go anywhere unless you pull the string. Once pulled, it will easily slide away. I thought the shock absorbing bungee might turn out to be a gimmick, but it is not at all. It is a full strength and very stiff absorption string, the same as might be used in climbing or high rope work. If you are on a tight budget, you can probably get by with just 60’ of rope and some knot skills. But if you have the money, this product is well worth the purchase for serious sea kayakers.
Works as needed
This kayak tow line is a vital piece of safety gear, especially for rescues and long-distance tows. The length is perfect for maintaining a safe distance during towing, and while it's on the pricier side, it's still more affordable than the leading competitor. Highly recommended for all kayakers. The plastic clip takes some getting used to, and users should practice towing before needing in an emergency.

Haven't used it yet, but very happy to know I have it should the need ever arise!
