The Taurus GX4 is a subcompact double-stack 9-mm pistol that came on the market to compete with guns like SIG Sauer P365, SA Hellcat, and Max-9. Altogether, it’s an entirely new handgun, engineered from the ground up to be different. The feature that stands out the most is a new flat-face 6-pound trigger. It’s incredibly smooth, with a short reset, thanks to the simplicity of the single-action mechanism. Most of the subcompact guns are a bit snappy, but the Taurus GX4 has surprisingly manageable recoil. Its low bore axis helps reduce muzzle rise, and the undercut trigger guard provides a higher grip, both resulting in better control of the gun during rapid fire. The pistol comes with two different-sized interchangeable backstraps, which allow the shooter better customization. The grip frame is made of polymer, while the chassis, slide, and barrel are made of high-quality stainless steel. Magazine capacity is 11+1 rounds, (10+1 in states with restrictions), packed in a double-stack magazine. There are also 13-round magazines available, which extend the grip and provide an even better grasp. Three passive safety features are built into the design: a trigger safety, a firing-pin block, and a loaded chamber indicator.
