Doesnt include footprint, nefarious selling tactic

Im sorry but its unacceptable that tents dont come with a footprint. to be clear you NEED one of these to protect the undurable underside of the tent. The footprint on its own is 70$ for a light tarp which is absurd. It makes me angry because its purely a sales tactic so they can claim its lighter than it is and force you to pay more for something you already need. getting a different one means it wont fit

Awesome product!

This is my first time trying out a Nemo tent and I definitely have good first impressions, I decided to take the Nemo hornet osmo ultra light tent to lake tipsoo last weekend to push some boundaries on this tent, for myself the very first thing I noticed was how light this tent is! It felt like a feather, I couldn’t even really notice the weight and for someone that does long distance backpacking in the woods this is a must! Another thing I noticed was how easy the setup was when it came time to make camp! I didn’t even pull out the instructions with my first time using this product, everything just seemed to flow! Just to add on a bonus is that I think the color scheme was a plus, not only was it practical in design for someone that back packs in the woods but it also had a nice modern design. Another side note is that the stakes to keep the tent to the ground had some ridges on the side to help keep the string attached. The only slight downfall that I could notice is the sizing, I had a 2 person tent but it felt more like a 1 person tent, not that it was a big deal to me, but I would recommend going a extra size up depending on how many people you plan on sleeping on the tent, overall I highly recommend this tent! It’s light weight, practical and overall looks amazing!

Lightweight and durable. Built for the trails.

After taking the NEMO Hornet OSMO Ultralight 2p Tent out on a few trips, I am very impressed with both the thoughtfulness of the design and the quality of the product. This tent arrived the night before I left on a three night kayaking trip so I decided to make a last minute gear swap and test it out. When you remove the poles the storage bag becomes a compression sack so you can really pack small and light. Setting up the tent is intuitive and after just a couple nights I had it up in under 5 minutes. Most importantly, it keeps the rain out. Experienced a few rain showers including one extended backcountry downpour and we stayed completely dry through it all. I used the tent both solo & with my wife. I'm a tall guy at 6'4" but we were both comfortable. It isn't roomy but that's expected with ultralight gear. As an astronomy nerd, sleeping under that stars on a clear night is often the highlight of a trip for me. The panoramic view of the sky this tent provides is fantastic. The ecologically focused materials are an appreciated detail and feels like it was built with the durability to be a lifetime tent. My wife and I are going to begin section hiking the AT soon and this will be the tent in my pack. It's hard for me to give higher praise than that.

Less than I expected

On the positive side, the tent is lightweight and easy to put up and take down. The weight is minimal and easy to carry. One the negative side, the fly rips easily. In less than six uses, the fly ripped twice. Once it got caught in the zipper and ripped, repairable. The next time, the seam at the head of the tent ripped away from the fly material. It is not repairable. It is not tough enough for normal, ordinary use. Sadly, I reached out to customer service. I could not talk to anyone. The email exchanges took three to five days in between each email. I would not recommend it unfortunately.

Ultralight, one major design flaw

Ultralight and great for backpacking alone. It's a tight fit for two because of the tent wall angles but not bad. Super fast and easy to set up and the height is good. It's definitely comfortable enough to hang out in sitting up. We'll see how durable it is given how light the materials are and we didn't use it in high wind or heavy rain. However, there is one major design flaw and a couple things that could be improved. One end must be staked out (the poles stake out two corners on one side and then the middle of the other side) and we couldn't do this easily on the wooden platform we were on. In fact, it was easier to lay a stick on the ground at the bottom of that side, tie it to the two corners and put water bottles in those corners to kind of keep the shape. Might bring along a spare tent pole next time. Other things that were slightly annoying but not a problem were that the rain fly zippers catch and there's only one gear hammock and it's overhead. So far the pros outweigh the cons but we'll see if there are durability issues or functionality issues in more extreme weather.

Perfect light and packable tent!

Awesome backpacking tent! So light and easy to set up and tear down. It packs down very small and takes up little room in a backpack. The size is a bit tight for sleeping 2 as expected for the lightness, but it still works for 2. Used it on a weekend summer hiking trip in southern california near san diego and it was perfect. The one pole makes set up very quick and easy, as well.

Not the best for PNW..

I wanted to love this tent. I purchased to shed a bit of weight and accepted it was not 2 person but did give me some extra room on solo trips. The tent is durable but I'm shocked over how much condensation became a problem on trail. At the foot of the tent its no problem but at the head, the rainfly is flush with the tent causingthe condensation to make contact with the mesh which dripped on my bag and me. No matter how many times I reset up and staked my tent properly it was an issue. I'm PNW based and unfortunately this tent just won't work. I use my trekking pole whenever I'm using this tent in between the poles which does fix the issue.

Amazing First Experience

Wow, let me just start out by saying, this tent withstood a crazy windstorm on top of a mountain! I have heard many many times that the mountains has ever changing weather, and I expected 5-8 mph winds for a couple hours on the mountain. A couple hours turned into the entire 24 hour backpacking trip. The winds were consistently 15-16 mph with 40-60 mph gusts. This was my tents maiden voyage, and it did not disappoint. We utilized the guy lines and put the tent head to the wind like nemo suggested. We also experienced some rain, when you open the rainfly and then the inner mesh. the rainfly falls right into the tent, dripping water into the tent. This can be avoided if you are mindful of it happening. It wasn't too serious and I just made a mental note that I needed to keep a hand on the rainfly until I get into the tent and am able to properly zip it. I also did not velcro the poles into the tent fly, leading one pole on the head side to collapse during strong winds (as in shift to a position that made the inner mesh collapse) I did not fix the poles to the velcro after this, because I was worried that if it was fixed into place, it might snap during strong gusts instead of shifting. I do not know if this was a good or bad call, but since my tent sustained no damage during this trip, I will call it a majorly successful trip! This tent allows for a lot of air flow and I cannot imagine any issues with condensation. Overall 4.5/5 due to the water from the rainfly getting into the tent so easily while getting in and out. Space wise, we fit myself and a 10 year old child comfortably. Our adult sized sleeping pads both fit and I felt I could toss and turn without bumping into her.

Nemo OSMO Ultralight 2 person tent

Loved this tent. Pretty light for a 2 person. All worked as expected on a 3 night through hike on the lost coast. I wish it had ultralight stakes. I switched them out for titanium. I didn’t have any trouble with things tearing as mentioned in other reviews. No rain on this trip. I did have to use some creativity with the lines on a particularly windy afternoon. The poles can bend and collapse. I also built a wind break with driftwood.

Great, easy ultralight for two

Really impressed with this tent! This was my first foray into ultralight tents after years of camping and backpacking with normal tents. It's insanely small and light compared to a normal tent -- in its bag, it's closer in size to my blow up sleeping pad than it is to a normal tent. The tent was intuitive and easy for one person to set up. The only difficult part of set up is that the tent is so light that it kept being caught in a gentle wind, so you have to stake it down or throw something inside it immediately or it will blow over. The material is so thin but doesn’t feel flimsy. I'll be curious to see what happens after years of wear and tear but we have had no issues with it so far. I have also only used it down to about 55 degrees, but we warmed up fine and the tent also did not become an oven at 80 degrees. I typically share a tent with either my partner or a friend when I car camp or backpack, so I picked the two person option. Based on the dimensions, I assumed it would be a tight fit, but we were fine with two people (5'6 and 5'9). The structure of the tent has a head side and foot side, which cuts down on pole weight but still gave us plenty of room where we needed it. The only critique I have is that I wish it came with a footprint. It's not a big deal but the tent is a distinct shape so I'll need to buy a footprint to match it, which seems like it should come with the tent for this price. One other misc. point -- great inner pockets! All in all, a super light and super small tent that's going to become my go-to for backpacking. Would recommend.
