Enigma Sleeping Quilt

The Enigma Sleeping Quilt is our lightest and most minimalist sleeping quilt. Pairing the beloved quilt template of our Revelation Sleeping Quilt with a completely sewn-closed footbox, the Enigma is the perfect ultralight quilt for those who always get cold feet. Exceptionally warm and extraordinarily light, the Enigma offers upper body freedom of movement, while providing structure for your feet. The Enigma doesn't have a zipper or a built in hood, saving even more space and weight in your pack.

The Enigma is a sleeping quilt, not a sleeping bag, which means it's designed to be used with a sleeping pad to provide insulation underneath you, between you and the ground.

Fill:

    • 850fp Grey Duck Down or 950fp Grey Goose Down. Ethically sourced from an RDS certified supplier. Down product weights may vary +/- 5% due to production variances. Read more about our Fills
    • This quilt falls under the Stuff on Demand fulfillment tier and will require time to prepare before it can ship out. This is to ensure we provide you with the freshest down possible. For more information on our fulfillment tiers, click here.

Fabric:

    • There are three color combinations available in this batch: Charcoal 10D outer/Yellow 10D inner fabric, Navy 10D outer/Charcoal 10D inner fabric, and Salmon 7D outer/Graphite 7D inner fabric.
    • Ultralight nylon fabric. Fabric colors might appear slightly different from images shown. Read more about our Fabrics.
    • All Fabrics are PFC Free, and use a C0 DWR.
    • Lighter colored fabrics are semi-transparent, which will see through to the down. Down is not white, but a mottled grey and white mix.

Footbox:

    • Sewn-closed footbox. No zippers and no cinches. Great for sleepers with cold feet.

Features:

    • Included pad attachment system uses elastic straps and clips on each side of the quilt to keep it secure on a sleeping pad and lock out drafts on cold nights.
    • Snap and drawcord neck closure lets you fine-tune draft control.
    • Unique U-shaped continuous baffles keep the down where you need it, all night long.
    • Includes:
      • Silnylon Roll-Top Dry Stuff Sack (1.1oz-2.5oz, sizes found here).
      • Breathable Polyester Storage Sack.
      • 2x Elastic Straps (0.4oz each - One Straight, One Loop).

****** warm and really helpful

I got the 30 degree, 950FP quilt as a replacement for my REI Magma 30 quilt shortly before the Arizona Trail Race. As far as the quilt goes, it's insane. I slept out without a tent or any kind of cover every night I was on the trail and while I was dewy in the mornings, none of the moisture ever penetrated into the actual down unless I packed it wet. And even then the damp down was still plenty warm and dried out with my body heat when I laid out the next night. For the most part, it dried out in the sun in about 10 minutes. The quilt also packs down absurdly small. I have a 3L compression sack that compresses the bag down to about 2/3 of a nalgene (I know, I know, it's awful for the quilt). Despite being loftier than my old quilt, the Enigma had no issues packing down this small and then springing back to lofty every night. The only thing that I could possibly take issue with is that sometimes it's difficult to evenly distribute the down in the torso area and can lead to some cold spots, but I imagine...read moreI got the 30 degree, 950FP quilt as a replacement for my REI Magma 30 quilt shortly before the Arizona Trail Race. Despite being loftier than my old quilt, the Enigma had no issues packing down this small and then springing back to lofty every night. The only thing that I could possibly take issue with is that sometimes it's difficult to evenly distribute the down in the torso area and can lead to some cold spots, but I imagine that's partly due to the lighter fill weight of the 30 degree version and my violent compressing packing while racing. Some horizontal sewing to make some smaller compartments in the torso area and reduce down movement might solve this, but then you lose some insulation where it's sewn. All in all, fantastic quilt and I'll likely be buying from EE again when I need some more down gear. I live in Fairbanks, Alaska and will be taking this quilt with me on winter cabin trips as well as everywhere I camp in the summer and fall. It's just that warm. The customer service is also top notch. After some miscommunication with shipping times the team worked to get me a SECOND quilt shipped up to Alaska faster, at no extra cost, while trusting me to send back the original one I purchased (which I just did). So yeah, not only are you buying one of the best quits in the game, but you're also shopping with some great customer service and a team who cares. Big thanks to them as they helped make my first go at the AZTR a success.
