Old dated certificate for new thermometer
Works fine BUT when you order a thermometer with a calibration certificate, you expect the certificate to be very recently dated and not 5 or 6 months old. It's the second time we purchase a thermometer with certification and what is sent to us is always at least 4 months old. Why not calibrate the thermometer before shipping it out so the customer has at least 11 months before he has to pay to get the thermometer re-certified?

A step down from the older version
The design has changed. I prefer the older model with dedicated buttons at the back. This just has one button and its' a pain to switch between celsius and fahrenheit

Why did you choose this?

Test kitchen recommendation.

A friend who I am working with uses this thermostat and has the red one So I ordered the black one Works great

Well i am frequent user of this product and it give me accuracy and proper utilization.

Waterproof! Rapid read.

How high can this read? Can it be used as a candy thermometer?

From the "Specs" section:
Range: -58 to 572°F (-50 to 300°C)
Accuracy: ±1.0°F (±0.5°C) from 14 to 208°F (–10 to 98°C); ±4.0°F (±2°C) between 392 to 572°F (200 to 300°C); otherwise ±3.0°F (±1.6°C)

Can the measurement unit toggle between Celcius and Fahrenheit? I need to be able to read temperatures in both units. Thanks!
Can the auto rotation be disabled so that the screen is locked in one orientation?
What grade of stainless steel is the probe made out of?
What is the benefit of the 8-inch probe over the 4.5 inch probe?

The longer probe is great for reaching into the oven for temping foods quickly. I use it especially for temping breads, making sure they are completely baked. It's also ideal for setting into a 2C measuring cup.

I lost the directions.    What buttons turn it on?

The single recessed button on the back of the display head.

Is the it DISH washer safe?

I don’t think so. I just hold mine in my hand while I wash/wipe it clean.

What is the battery life of this product? How long before it switches off?

I've only had the new and improved, rotating dial ThermoPop for 6 months and the battery is still going strong. On the older model, it's 10 years old and STILL working and yes we use it a LOT!

can this show 4 digits? As if I was taking the temperature of something over 100 dehrees, but need the .X after?

Only 3 digits are available. Fortunately, for most cooking applications, the rounding is not an issue and produces less opportunity for error than probe placement does.

How is it different from the older one?

Hi Michelle,The ThermoPop 2 has quite a few noticeable differences from the ThermoPop. ThermoPop 2 has a wider display, faster reading speeds, tighter accuracy, and an auto-off function. These are just a few of their difference. More information can be found under the SPECS tab under each product on our website.
