I bought this for my girlfriend, since her old ThermoPop died last year. I have the same model as her old one, and I'm almost envious (a sin, I know!). She noted the extra length of the probe, and fact that the digits "float" on the screen. It does register temperatures noticeably faster than the old one as well.
Now we don't have to guess as to whether or not the salmon/chicken/anything else is done. I got it in black, the same color as she had had before, but I'm thinking maybe I should have gone for a brighter color, to go with the brighter display.

I love the the big numbers. I only have one problem with it. There's no instructions. It stays on for 10 minutes. I saw that it can be set to shut off sooner but,it doesn't say how.

Fast, accurate, bright and jazzy
Accurate, fast and easy to read. Easy to find in the drawer because of the bright red colour. My son is happy because I no longer overcook the chicken!

I love the ThermoPop 2, I finally killed my thermoPop (I dropped and stepped on it) and the new version is awesome, proper temperature is everything in great BBQ and ThermoWorks has the best tools to make great food everytime!

Not the Same
I've purchased several Thermoworks products over the years (DOT, Timestick, SPOT, and probes), and I've given the Thermopops as gifts that are well liked. For the first time, I'm disappointed in the re-design of the Thermopop since the battery which used to be convenient to access, now requires a screwdriver to open. It's just not up to the usual quality I've come to expect from Thermoworks.

How high can this read? Can it be used as a candy thermometer?
Can the measurement unit toggle between Celcius and Fahrenheit? I need to be able to read temperatures in both units. Thanks!

What is the benefit of the 8-inch probe over the 4.5 inch probe?
The longer probe is great for reaching into the oven for temping foods quickly. I use it especially for temping breads, making sure they are completely baked. It's also ideal for setting into a 2C measuring cup.
I lost the directions. What buttons turn it on?
The single recessed button on the back of the display head.
Is the it DISH washer safe?
I don’t think so. I just hold mine in my hand while I wash/wipe it clean.
What is the battery life of this product? How long before it switches off?
I've only had the new and improved, rotating dial ThermoPop for 6 months and the battery is still going strong. On the older model, it's 10 years old and STILL working and yes we use it a LOT!
can this show 4 digits? As if I was taking the temperature of something over 100 dehrees, but need the .X after?
Only 3 digits are available. Fortunately, for most cooking applications, the rounding is not an issue and produces less opportunity for error than probe placement does.
How is it different from the older one?
Hi Michelle,The ThermoPop 2 has quite a few noticeable differences from the ThermoPop. ThermoPop 2 has a wider display, faster reading speeds, tighter accuracy, and an auto-off function.
