Why You Feel Cold Outdoors (And How to Finally Stay Warm)

Just got back from a 3 day hike with the Shadowlight 60L. The pack is light, very comfortable, and fit all my gear with room to spare. This was definitely a good purchase.
Feather weight with a nice high neck. Looks to be very high quality material. Will be testing on the trail soon . . .
I read some of the reviews and even one that said that these were their new favorite hiking pant. I was like wow, that’s their opinion, great…but not I didn’t think I would have the same experience. I bought two pairs, size LT. I am 5’10” and weigh 190lb. When my joggers arrived I tried them on and wasn’t impressed with the fit at first. I am used to hiking in baggier pants and these Fit just like they’re supposed to, a jogger. Anyway, a bit uncertain, I decided to test one pair out at the gym on how well they function with movement patterns of they gym (squats, lunges, etc) and they met my approval at the gym so I decided to bring one pair on my 3 day backpacking trip near Cumberland Falls to test them out. It was funny, on the day I wore them my friend said “those are a little tight” —I responded that they were a jogger, and I wanted to test them out to see how well they move with me as I hike, climb, etc. they did great at the gym and it would be cool to find a pair of pants that are versatile on the trail and at the gym. These pants were incredible. This was a challenging trail and I felt like I was hiking with silk on my legs. In a creek crossing, my pants got soaked up to my thigh and dried within 20 minutes. They were so breathable! I don’t like to hike in shorts and these were a great compromise. The best part is that I work at a gym so now I can not feel guilty for spending money on a pant that I can wear in both of my worlds! I hope OV comes out with additional colors!!
I will also include that my iPhone did fit in the front pocket. I generally don’t ever use pockets on butt, so it would be nice to have a zipper on a front pocket to ensure my phone doesn’t slide out. I do have other places I out my phone but for quick grabs when needing maps, I would put in my pocket.
This is my new favorite all around pant for working out, the trail and anything around town/home!
I’m just not a bucket hat kinda guy. This cap is perfect for me and perfect for backpacking. Light feel, breathable and good construction. This + sunhoodie + shades = how I roll :)
Super light feel, breathable and good construction. Zero complaints here! 👍
I have an OV 40 and added two OV Shoulder Pockets to carry my 1L Smart Water bottles. With some effort the bottles just fit in the pockets. Another 1/8 of an inch shock cord or material would make the effort easier.
The OV 40 rides very comfortable and the water bottles are easy to reach and take out. The only problem is getting them back in on the move.
Had high hopes for this, and it’s even better than I expected. Instantly became a favorite in my arsenal of New England weather management gear. Warm when you need, light enough to stay somewhat cool when it warms up, incredibly light, fits in any bag, super comfortable, and actually looks good on. Ridiculously well made. Highly recommended.
I purchased these socks for a 3 week trip to the West. I have worn this particular pair three days in a row, hiking in Mesa Verde CO. They are really comfortable and no smell. I like these because they are a little looser and thinner than the other pair of Darn Tough socks I have. I like them a lot.
Light, warm, compressible - just as OV said it would be. I bought an OV Novapro jacket last year and I love it, so I decided to try out the hoodie. I couldn't be happier with both.
Well, it would be fair to say that I have had a lot of puffy jackets over the years. This one is certainly at the top of the list. It isn't the lightest, but seems to be a perfect balance of warmth, features and weight. For me, it is a perfect early Spring, late Fall and Winter jacket. Love the color options, vented pits and fabric.
These shorts are awesome, they are incredibly comfortable, lightweight and the fit is spot on. I like the pocket design as there is an inner pocket as well. Great pair to add to your closet.
The Drifter 16L is my all time favorite day hiking pack, super light, two pockets, two water bottle holders, everything you need and nothing you don't. Packs well for travel, I bring it everywhere, and leave a second one in my car for unexpected hikes.
Most comfortable sleeping pad I've used. I have yet to take it out but did sleep on it in the house and it is very comfortable. The pump sack takes about 5-7 sacks to pump up depending how full you get the sack each time. The fabric used on top is very soft and stretchy and really forms to your body just make sure not to overfill the pad. It is not slick like some pads are. I am a side and stomach sleeper and this is the best pad I have ever had. I've had 5-6 over the past 15 years. This one has been the most expensive by far. I went back and forth on what to purchase between this one or the Xtherm and decided comfort over insulation since I rarely sleep in very cold conditions although I have slept in negative digits a few times. I went with the Regular wide and am so glad I did. I'm only 5'5 but muscular and have broad shoulders. All my other pads are 20" or less and a couple mummy shaped so the 26" width is so nice. I have a little elbow room unlike with the other pads I own I often had an elbow or knee off the pad at night. The height is 73" and I found I could lay with my arms above my head under the pillow while on my stomach and it was perfect for me. The weight penalty will be worth the comfort since I don't care about being ultralight. I am a veteran and use to carrying 40+ pounds for miles and I'm not doing through hikes or anything. I will be using this pad for elk hunting in Colorado in October. If anything changes and I can update the review, if needed, after October I will do so.
So far so good. This is my first quilt. We experienced a fair amount of morning moisture, but this stayed dry and kept me warm. Lightweight, and comfortable!
