Why We Built The Backcountry Cardiac GORE-TEX PRO Bib Pant

"So many vents, but even better, the two-way zippers on the outside of the bibs go from the top to the knees for easy breaks when nature's calling." —Gearhead® Expert Sammy

Long approach, gusting summit winds, chest-deep powder: We built our Backcountry Cardiac GORE-TEX PRO Bib Pant for the extremes. The 3-layer construction blocks out the wind and the wet and won't snag on branches or hook-and-loop tabs, yet it bends to our whim for unrestricted climbing and shredding and lets our microclimate breathe easy to keep the sweat to a minimum. When we're really testing our grit, we open the inner-thigh zips to boost airflow, and we stash our beanie and shell mitts in the bib pockets. And whenever nature calls, the waist's side zippers let us answer the call without having to ditch our jacket.

Perfect snowboarding jacket!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This jacket is exactly what I was looking for. It’s waterproof, breathable, and allows for lots of mobility. It runs big but the oversized style is exactly what I wanted for comfort and mobility!

my friends are jealous of these bibs

+1 to the reviewer who said these are the best backcountry bibs out there. I'm obsessed with the pockets, and the pockets in pockets. You see that little mesh pocket at the waist? That is the perfect pocket for fruit snacks to eat one by one on the uphill. The legs have mesh pockets in the pockets. Put my phone there for easy access to take photos from the top. 50 mph winds? no problem, these pants are truly windproof. They're big, baggy, and light as a feather, so if you're looking for pants to make your butt look cute, check out a different pair. If you're looking to save weight with bibs that are functional AF, look no further. Oh, and the purple color is much nicer IRL. I love them so much that I tried to get the jacket so I could rock a full purple suit but y'all are sold out.

Love love love these bibs. They’re durable, block out wind and moisture, but can also be easily vented. They have plenty of pockets and the color is fantastic! Agree they run large - I normally wear a small and the extra small is still fairly baggy on me. Just a couple small things: I wish they had a stronger snap for the front zipper because when popping into low turns or landing a jump, it tends to pop open and then the zipper comes undone as well. The legs are a little short on me as to be expected, so would appreciate clips at the end to hold them over ski boots like many brands have. Otherwise fantastic!

Run big, but love them

Familiarity:

These are more traffic cone orange than they looked in the photos, but I still love them. Per other reviewers, I sized down and am so glad I did. I am 5’4”, a size 2-4 in pants, athletic build with narrow shoulders, and the XS is perfect. I would say there is still room in the ribs/hips area if I were to be bigger.

Perimenopausal shredbetty LOVE!!

I'm 50. I'm a CrossFitter w/ athletic upper-legs, and as an elder babe "adjusting to a new season of life," I'm a lot heavier than I've ever been. And, I love having boobs and a booty! I've blown-out my lead-leg knee 2x, so also wear a 20y/o CTI Lite knee-brace. Sure, I'd love to replace it with something leaner, but that time isn't here just yet. I ride to shred, not to go-out looking like Barbie in bibs. I also started to ride in the 1990s, so prefer the baggier fit. These are the ONLY bibs I've found with BOTH a rear-exit for potty breaks in the woods, room for my knee brace, room for my booty/thighs, room for my oversized belleh, AND room for layers. The only other bibs I was seriously considering, were Flylow's Baker bibs. For dudes. Cuz they're also a cute pink; but had no rear-exit. Sure, someday I'd love to be able to fit into Barbie-shaped bibs with the pin-tucked knees & everything; but I no longer have time for lengthy hospital stays or years to rebuild an atrophied leg from an ACL tear. And, I wanna squat +200lbs in the next coupla years. TL;DR, these bibs are CUTE, and feel like they're gonna let me shred all day in comfort. THANK YOU for making these bibs suited for my older, transitioning, burly body. <3 Stoked as hell to take these out, tomorrow. I've been trying on bibs for TWO YEARS, and these are the first ones I feel confidently awesome about. Yes, the material feels a touch flimsy (which I'm a little worried about); but they also weigh less than half of what my bulky Carhartts did. If these don't hold up, I'll return to update my review.

Love the colors

I LOVE the color, but the pants were way too baggy. I ordered an XS, so I had to return. Too bad, I hope the next reiteration will be more slim fit.

Pleasantly surprised by these bibs! Has everything you’d expect in a high end goretex pant- good pockets, zippers, and quality build ect. What I ended up loving about these that was unexpected is that they work as both bibs and pants for me! I’m taller than average so can have a hard time with bibs being long enough. When I tried these on I found the way they are cut I can wear them a low sitting pant or a traditional bib, which is awesome. Super comfortable and have already got a lot of compliments from strangers on the color(I got the red&pink). Big fan!

Best ski bibs I’ve ever worn

These are without a doubt the most comfortable ski bibs/pants I’ve ever owned. I saw the other review about the legs being too wide, which is surprising bc I thought these were the most perfect fit. They are not tight so if you’re looking for a European fit, these are not it. The range of motion I can get when I’m riding all different terrain. I would wear these touring in addition to resort days. I’m built as an athlete so my legs are muscular so I think the fit is perfect if you’re looking to get after it, these bibs are for you. And to get Gore-Tex PRO material at this sale price is a steal.

I was so excited to see backcountry was starting to come out with Gore tex shell ski gear. By first look these would be perfect for the backcountry. When I tried them on they felt great up top. But the suspenders were definitely low quality. The pants were insanely overly wide in the upper thigh and knee area, even though I like a baggy loose fitting bib. The shape of these pants makes no sense to a woman. Baggy is important but these are HUGE on the bottom half. I wish that backcountry would dial in their design a bit for these. Because if they put a little more thought into them, they could be perfect. The height of the bib in the abdomen area is perfect. The sizing up top is perfect. Just less wide in the legs and better quality suspenders. I still can’t find the right backcountry shell gore tex bibs to this day.

BEST SKI PANTS EVER!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

These are the best ski pants I've ever worn. Last year, I was skiing on a miserable, windy and wet day with constant wet snow coming down, and I was wearing these pants (and the jacket) while my family was wearing Helly Hansen, Arcteryx, and Kjus. I was the ONLY one of us that was warm. These pants handled the windy and wet snow significantly better than the other brands that my family was wearing. They spent the day complaining about how wet and cold they were. I certainly was not. Also, there are so many pockets, which I appreciate, because of the amount of stuff that I need to put somewhere while skiing. I agree with the previous review about running big. I had to go down a size, but that's the only thing I can think of that would be considered a negative. I'll buy these ski pants (and the jacket) forever based on my experience.
