Great sweater for big guys

Very soft, nice quality, and looks great. Often Merino Wool shirts and sweaters run a bit small, but not Smartwool. The sleeves are long and extend below my wrist, which is tough to find for me. The overall fit is on point, maybe even 1/2 size larger than expected. Other brands don’t fit me properly and are a fairly tight. The generous cut works!

Rock solid and comfortable

I own like six or seven of these and wear them all the time whether it's for work, hiking or other outdoor pursuits because they're very comfortable, warm and wash up well. You just have to hang them upside down with clips rather than putting on a regular hanger because then the shoulders get sort of nappy. My very first one of these like 15 years ago doesn't have that issue but once you figure it out, it's not the end of the world.

Smartwool is amazing

I used this top with 250 bottoms on the Bartram, Appalachian, Benton mackaye route I put together last year it only got down to the 30s but it was everything that I needed I’ve used the same base layers for much colder hikes and at work down to 10 degrees Fahrenheit it works best with a fleece and a down jacket if the windchill is brutally cold I add a rain jacket as a windbreaker it works magic when it’s freezing outside when you can feel the cold through all your layers I couldn’t recommend Smartwool enough they really are the best of the best when it comes to base layers and wool products. I swear the clothes are made of some kind of alien technology lol for it to be so light and thin material it’s very comfortable and warm. Happy trails everyone.

A Sharp-Looking Base Layer

This fit perfectly and is a great base layer for cooler temperatures. The grey-blue color goes well with many other colors. The shirt does not wrinkle and the fabric laid very smoothly around the zipper. It looks sharp even worn as a stand-alone shirt.

Excellent for travel!

Just got back from a trip to Switzerland and this Smartwool top was perfect! Great layering piece, easy to regulate temperature with the quarter-zip, and the cut looks very sharp; good for both hiking and city adventures. Also, I must admit our plans for clothes washing did not quite turn out, but it did not smell at all after several wearings… I am now a Smartwool fan for life.

Very bad design

I ordered the size I always wear in Smartwool base layer shirts. The cut on this one is very strange: somewhat fitted body, but very baggy sleeves (even the cuff hangs loose), and baggy neck. And the armholes bind and bunch up when I raised my arm to shoulder height. I do not recommend unless you have a very small abdomen and gigantic neck, biceps and wrists.

A Must Have Item for Layering

This is great to have this packed away for any of my trips where I'll need to be layering. The center zip is good for venting if needed and goes down to my sternum. Sizing is accurate. Lastly, I make sure to follow Smartwool instructions to prolong life.

Comfortable and stlylish

Great for travel . Looks great. Comfortable( sized up to XXL to fit over mid layers_ usually XL). A full zip may have been better for shedding when warm

Great layer

This shirt is a perfect weight and extremely comfortable. Throw on another layer if it gets really cold or wet and you’re set.
