I use this bottle/belt on long runs (anywhere from 10 to 30 milers). The belt fits nicely and stays snug..even with a full bottle, there is zero bounce and with the bottle positioned nicely in the small of your back, you won’t even notice you’re carrying 18oz of fluid. The zipper pocket is big enough to stash a couple of bars and my phone. The bottle is easy to slip out with the tilted angle, but the padded ‘holster’ holds it snugly—I haven’t needed the elastic tether that can be slipped over the top of bottle. The lid hasn’t leaked—even with fizzy electrolyte tablets in water. I’ve logged over 100 miles with this belt already with no rubbing or chafing from nylon around waist. You won’t be disappointed.

Jiggle nightmare for the flat-bellied
Lola9

I bought this to use during a race with cupless aid stations and to use on long trail runs. It was a jiggling nightmare from the get-go. No matter how tight I tried to cinch down the straps, they would loosen. The belt would end up high on my waist jiggling around. I tried to cinch it on my hips to keep it in place, and that didn't work either. Jiggling water bottle left me with a bruised lower back after race. Maybe good for some, but was not good for me. I returned product.

Great for trail running

Used it twice so far. Once a 10 miler and short 4 mile run on some trails near my house. I really dig the loop that holds the bottle in place. Definitely holds everything snug and close to your body. Barely notice it's even there. You're also able to fit other water bottles securely if you wanted to by using the little loop. Pocket is large enough to hold an iphone 6s plus, and a cliff bar, car key, gel packet, and chapstick but with my small frame, it ends up trying to bend my phone/push it into my side more than i'm comfortable with. Not sure what the outside shock cord could be used for. The insulation also is noticeable. Water stayed cool the whole time.

Love/ Hate

Love this pack- purchased three over last two years. I'm slower pace, dislike hand held, use this up to 8 miles, vest (love my vapor krar 4L! So I know things CAN last) 8+ miles. However looking for a new option. Pros; ride while running, feels secure. Good size bottle and storage for phone and emergency pack (one gel, bandaid, anti-chafe packet, towelette). I do not feel over-packed. Cons; three packs all lost to storage section defects. Pack #1 - storage pocket seam failure. Thought this might be due to laundering in machine. Hand wash only packs #2 and #3. #2 zipper failure, #3 storage pocket seam failure.

This thing rules!

My two biggest fears with this was that it would slosh/bounce around and that it would feel restrictive once it was in place... neither of these things ended up being an issue. Fits nicely into the small of my back and does minimal sloshing (only noticed when stopping/starting) and zero bouncing. Took this on a hot and humid 8 miler today and felt that 18 oz was the perfect size. Love that the pockets are super accessible (even without flipping it around to the front, which I figured I would have to do- not the case) and can fit so much more than you initially think they can. This was exactly what I was looking for before I even realized it was what I wanted.

Great until it wasn’t

I bought this 3 weeks and and only use it on my Saturday long runs. So today was my 3rd time using. Storage pouch came unsown at the seam and my phone fell to the ground and shattered my screen. Super upset.

Finally, a perfect (almost) waist pack

I really wanted a hand held and not a huge waist pack. But this is not too large and not too small for my marathon. Water bottle slides out easily, and delivers a good amount of fluid. The pocket is large enough for several gels, a bottle of salt pills and has a large zipper that is easy to access. I really like the way the waist belt cinches down and the tabs to prevent the ends from flopping around. The belt slid up a little-not staying inplace on my hips. Not sure if the belt loosened while I was running. That's my only complaint

Great for 1 to 2 hour runs.

I was torn between this and a hydration pack/vest. Figured I would start here. It is bigger than I imagined which was a little off putting. First time I started running with it it was bouncing and took some rearranging to find the sweet spot where is sits fairly still and almost becomes unoticable. I am used to it now but it still needs adjusting on the fly. The pocket is pretty snug for my Samsung S7 definitely stretching it taught. I also find the sound of sloshing water kind of annoying but hey... It does what you would want it to but I am holding off on a better rating until I have tried a vest.

Great, light hydration belt!

Love this belt! I use it for running and SUPing. The water bottle (16 oz) sits nicely on the small of your back, and doesn't flop around when you run. It takes a little practice to get used to hooking and unhooking the bungee cord that keeps the water bottle snuggly in place in the pocket, but it's not too bad. The zipper pocket easily fits a phone (I have an iPhone 7 but there's plenty of space for larger-sized phones), as well as keys and a small snack bar. The waist straps are light-weight, and easily adjustable, and the overall construction is good. Great belt for the price!

Pouch is not reliable

I bought this pack the week before for the NYC Marathon when I found it was going to be 20 degrees warmer than normal years. I trusted Nathan over other brands because my experience with them in the past. However, in the 25th mile of the race, the pouch of the belt broke open in the corner and my phone, airpods, credit card, license flew out onto the course. I had to scramble to pick them all up in the LAST MILE of the NYC Marathon which was just extremely frustrating. This pouch was brand new so I honestly couldn't believe it could wear out the pocket that quick. Will be thinking twice before trusting Nathan product in the future.

design issue with new versions

Same exact experience as another reviewer! I has an old version that lasted many years, Just bought 3 for the family and the zippers on all of them immediately broke. The top belt in the photo is 5 months old and the bottom is 4 years old. Now, I need to duct tape to keep my closed.
