We were tired of leggings not holding up to the wear and tear we put them through, until we tried the Outdoor Research Ferrosi Legging. We really like the Cordura inserts on these leggings that add durability while we climb, scramble, and hike.

Perfect except......
Great pants for hiking. love the Ferrosi collection. However pulling the pants over the hips is quite a chore, almost to the point they will rip out. Once they're in place the fit is good. For reference I'm 5'1" 106 lbs. Hips are 34. It shouldn't be this hard to pull them up. Size medium would be too large otherwise. Maybe the new version has addressed this issue.

Great fabric. They work best as slim pants, so size up!
My go-to hiking pants are some out-of-production leggings from a competitor, but they're too heavy for warm SoCal hikes. Enter these. The fabric feels fantastic-sort of crisp, like a cotton dress shirt, but stretchy, and not shiny or plasticky. The pockets are nice, although they could be deeper and there's wasted space on the waistband, which could accommodate more or bigger pockets. The length is slightly on the short side; I'm not quite 5'7" and these hit the tops of my ankles. Per others' comments, these run narrow in the hips, which can require some spirited dancing to get them on. Personally I prefer a looser fit (think slim pants, not leggings), plus I didn't relish having to maneuver these on inside a backpacking tent or squatting behind a tree and risking ripping a seam-so I sized up from small to medium. (I'm generally a size 4, or 27 waist in pants.) Also, the crotch gusset is quite small and a little awkwardly placed, so I found that these, uh, showed off my anatomy less when I sized up. A wider crotch gusset that starts higher up in the front (so the center seam can't work its way up) would fix that issue. If you can find the right fit, these are great! Both the small and the medium were comfortable and generally flattering once on, and the flat, soft waistband, sans heavy seams or buttons, will be great for backpacking.

Comfort and Utility
Highly recommend these - they're equally comfortable as they are practical in outdoor settings. Ive only worn them in winter conditions and they have been great at cutting the wind. Anxious to see how they perform in the heat while outfitting groups this summer.

So comfortable and durable
These leggings are wonderful! I followed previous reviews and sized up from medium to large for length and ease of getting the pants on. Reviews listed not enough give in the waist, but they are a legging style and meant to be worn without a belt, so doesn't bother me. I've worn these hiking with a baselayer underneath to stay warm and dry, but I think they will be nice in the summer as well as they are breathable and lightweight like the rest of the ferrosi line. Definitely would recommend

Versatile Cute Legging
I bought a medium (usually wear Levi's 29 long) and these fit well. I can squeeze a pair of leggings underneath, but would probably get a size up if I was going to layer under them regularly. LOVE all the pockets. Versatile for running around town and on a hike. Layered them under my bibs skiing, went on a long bike ride in the wind and they protected me well. Excited to try them climbing this spring!

Great addition to my winter wear
These pants were ultra-comfortable. They stretched and fit where needed and were wonderful for a walk in wet and windy winter weather.

Ugh too big even after Taking into account all the reviews
I really wanted to enjoy these pants bought a size XS for a friend and a medium for myself (5"4,125lbs). The mediums are huge on me. I usually wear a small but I sized up Based on the reviews saying they were "running small". So frustrating. Odd enough, I couldn't even fit my legs into the XS, so I really wonder how the small size is.
