The XL1500 features a handsome, checkered, hardwood stock. With its daunting 24 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, and shot velocities of up to 1500 fps*, small game ? it?s game over. Independent research by Intertek found that Nitro Piston technology reduces noise by 70% during the shot cycle comparted with traditional steel spring break-barrels! Benjamin Trail NP XL 1500 Air Rifle
  • With Nitro Piston Technology
  • 70% Less Noise then the competitor’s “quiet” break barrel
  • Gas Piston Technology uses Nitrogen as the power source, instead of a steel Spring
  • Dramatically reduces felt recoil by eliminating the "double hit" and "spring torque" of a steel spring
  • Quicker lock time leads to increased accuracy
  • Velocity up to 1500 fps (w/ alloy); 24ft lbs of downrange muzzle energy.
  • Hardwood Ambidextrous Stock w/Thumbhole Grip
  • Integral Rail Mounting System – make mounting optics quick and easy
  • Sling Mount and Swivel Studs Included
  • Includes CenterPoint 3-9x40mm with adjustable objective and Mil-Dot reticle

I love the Benjamin Trail NP 1100, but didn't realize 8.8 lbs was so heavy for a woman. Also disappointed about paying for next day air and waiting 4 days to get it. They don't tell you that the order goes out the next day and doesn't ship on weekends.

A link to "Home//Refurbished CenterPoint Adventure 3-9x40 A/O Rifle Scope" would have been useful/informative to provide scope specs and review comments

Pros
Bought both an XL1500 and an XL1100 if you are buying one for quiet use, skip the XL1500. A pellet above the speed of sound is not quiet. Quality is good. The scope was better than I had expected absent any specs/description.

Cons
Could not find a sling that could be easily installed/. Had to disassembled/reassemble a sling to connect the front attachment point and surplus one sling swivel. Indeed does require two hands to cock. If you bruise easily, expect some bruising from cocking but not from shooting. Would have appreciated knowing country of origin...China. Buying the Benjamin from Crosman is not exactly buying American.

The scope that it comes with is ok, but can/could be better.

Pros
I've had my Benjamin Nitro about 4 yrs now. Wanted a .22 caliber air rifle for hunting and plinking (it's legal to hunt turkeys with in CA)... this monster does it all! Mine likes a little heavier pellet and throws great tight groups. I did the bearing upgrade to the trigger group to eliminate the creep in the trigger and it works fabulously, so smooth and crisp for about a $15 modification. (Don't do it unless you're confident in your gunsmithing capabilites work tho!!!) All in all, a tough to beat rifle!

Cons
Trigger creep and smooth pull, the weight, (it's a pretty stout machine!!!)

Expect to be disappointed with Stock.

Pros
Accurate & Fairly Quite

Cons
Plastic Wood-Like stock. DO NOT BUY if you think you're getting a Wooden Maple Stock.

Pros
Great looking. Nice shooter. Good power

Cons
Stock not fitted to rest of gun so good. Barrel rubs the stock when breaking Barrel eating into the stock. For higher end air gun , one would expect better.

Nothing - near perfect!

Pros
Accurate. 0.5" grouping at 100 feet with H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme (9.57 gr) pellets (most accurate pellet of 20 I have tried). Also using a 60mm Hawke air rile scope at 8X. The two stage trigger is great - smooth and progressive and feels like I can take 80% of trigger travel then there is a clear feel of the second stage - GREAT! Some simple modifications I made on my last NP XL and this one. See pictures. Loctite the three screws holding the stock on. Drill stock with 1/4" hole where barrel pivot is so you can tighten the screw without removing stock. Use yellow heat shrink tube on the safety so I can see its on (which means its cocked and ready to go from a distance). Can leave it cocked for hours (maybe days) without any loss of velocity. For some serious take down power try H&N Piledriver - 21 grain. I understand it is was designed to be very aerodynamic and stable. It drops little compared to lighter pellets and is very consistent. Put one clean through a skunk once.

Cons
With scope - 11 pounds. I am ok with cocking it but it does takes two hands and some body weight leaning into it to cock - but that's where the 1500 fps comes from!!!

also pretty quite

Pros
0.177 - High FPS - ACCURATE! My second NP XL - Can hit 1" target at 100 feet. Can leave cocked for hours (maybe days) and the N2 charge never fades!

Cons
minor modifications: (1) I disassemble and use Loctite blue on the three screws holding barrel to wooden stock, (2) drill 1/4" hole and file it smooth so I can tighten the main barrel pivot screw w/o disassembly, (3) use yellow shrink tube on the safety so you can see its position from 20 feet away. AND I USE A 60mm HAWKE Sidewinder 4-16 scope set to 8X with large side focus wheel. Use H&N Baracuda Hunter Extreme, 9.57 grain. Tested over 20 pellets from high cost match to 21 grain H&N Piledriver. Baracuda is most repeatable pellet and moderate mass for punch.

Those complaining about bad accuracy, tighten the barrel attachment screw, you'll have to remove the stock to do so.

Pros
Crazy power/speed (.177 cal.) Insane accuracy (1/4 inch groups at 100 feet with 10.5 grain pellets)

Cons
It's heavy. .177 cal. is a bit small for raccoons, unless you nail them in the T-zone.

I bought my .25 cal XL in 2019 . Seems to be a good rifle. I have put about 450 rounds through it with no problems.

Pros
Powerful , consistent accuracy after break in of 300 rounds. Good scope.

Cons
Too heavy with the wood stock.. Trigger needs lighter spring.

Pros
Great power in .25 caliber. It takes about 300 rounds to break in before tack driving accuracy . Remember to tighten the mounting bolts and use blue locate on them. Beautiful stock . Bought it in 2019 and have about 500 rounds through it with no problems.

Cons
It could use a lightweight synthetic stock. Shoots best with H & N domed target trophys 20 grain or H &N hornets 22 grain.

Has anyone chronographed these things to find out the true muzzle velocity? I chronoed my Beeman grizzly which claimed over 1000 fps for the .177 and 8 or 900 for the .22 and on the . 22 I was consistently getting about 640 fps and the .177 about 730 fps so I am weary about claims of 1500 fps.

asked Ezekiel from USA

What fpe is the .25 Cal

asked gregg from USA

As one commenter called: I'm a rabbit / squirrel guy! Which caliber would you choose? .177, or .22 or .26? And what kind of ammunition do you recommend? And how many joules do they have?

asked Molnár from Germany

22 cal will give the necessary lethality and low ammo cost. 22 cal guns typically shoot 30 ft lbs -41 joules.

Mark from USA

Is the scope on the gun when you purchase it and is it sighted in when you purchase this airgun

asked Levi

It comes with a 3X9X40 centerpiont scope and mounts it is not sighted in out of the box
