Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.

SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.

TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.

Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.

Inseam is measured to the floor.

This is a quite comfortable, stretchy, soft, comfortable and very well made jacket. I’m impressed with the engineering. On the rei website, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the straight lines of the bottom of the jacket, but the draw-cords at the hem (and the back of the hood) are sweet. Love having the pit zips. I’ve become accustomed to them on my cycling jackets and am pleasantly surprised to find them here. This is not a cheap plastic jacket. It is very high quality, akin to those that 2-3 times the price. Packs down nicely, which is one of my prerequisites for travel. Well done REI.

Great Rain Jacket, But Not Just For Rain

This is a great travel and hiking jacket for those cool, rainy or misty days. It is lightweight and comfortable. The zippers slide with ease and it provides a nice moisture proof barrier. I usually wear between a large and extra large shirt and coat and this size large jacket fit with room to spare so I can wear a bulky size XL fleece sweater over a tee shirt underneath for layers of warmth and still have room to move and be active. The hood is roomy, but cinches up to fit your head, a hat or helmet. I recommend this jacket to anyone for whatever activity you have planned in wet or dry weather. It won't keep you extra warm on its own, but it will act as a windbreaker. It has roomy, secure pockets and zippers under the arm pits for when you start to get hot. You will not get "swampy" in it like in some rain shells. It will also make a fine packable jacket for travel.

Good Rain Jacket at a Great Price

Having spent a few weeks with this rain jacket, I am walking away very impressed. Build quality is excellent. I put it through it's paces on a few local trails (about 50 miles) and it appears no worse for the wear. The zipper is a bit sticky, but isn't problematic and is a good sign for zipper reliability long term. The underarm venting is pretty standard, but a must for any rain jacket. Fit is a bit frumpy in my opinion but not overly unattractive. At 6 foot, 200 pounds, large was the right length but a bit expansive around the torso. Overall, at this price I would highly recommend this jacket.

Excellent rain shield but oversized

I’ve been waiting to use the REI Co-op Men's XeroCloud 3L Rain Jacket and managed to test it with the recent downpours in SoCal, and overall, it’s a great jacket with a few areas for improvement. This jacket excels in keeping out rain and wind. Compared to my other rain jackets, the water-wicking ability of this one is top-notch (I mean, it could be that this is a brand new jacket with the waterproofing still fresh), with water beading right off the surface even in heavy downpours. A simple shake of the jacket and all the rain accumulated just wicks off. I’ve worn it in some pretty rough conditions, and it has kept me completely dry even when I am wearing just a t-shirt underneath. I didn't feel any dampness or coldness on my skin, making it a great outer shell for stormy weather. One downside I noticed is that the material itself isn’t very breathable, much less than my other go-to rain jacket. I would have preferred some mesh or lighter material in some areas of the jacket. Fortunately, the pit zips are a lifesaver. They allow for ventilation when needed, making a huge difference when you need to regulate body temperature on a hike. Overall, I am a big fan of the jacket. Its sleek and functional with adjustable hood, cuffs, and waist giving you a more customized fit. There's tons of storage in the jacket with plenty of pockets that are both deep and accessible. It also folds down quite small making it easy to stash in a travel bag or duffel. Unfortunately, the biggest gripe I have with this jacket is the sizing. I’m 5’9” and usually wear a Medium, but the fit on this jacket was much larger than anticipated. All the extra space makes it nice for layering but I would've preferred a more sleek fit. I would recommend getting a size down just to make sure it fits nice.

Just the shell you're looking for

I love this shell. I've used it skiing a few times this winter, and it's performed very well. It has a a nice roomy fit to accommodate other layers underneath, while not being too baggy to feel that it is blowing around. The pockets are roomy enough to stash extra gloves, food, phone, a soft water bottle-really whatever you can think of. I really like that functionality of the pit zips too. Not every shell these days has pit zips, but when I was overheating one afternoon it was nice to be able to open up the pit zips and shed some heat. The seam taped zippers were a little stiff and needed both hands to be opened, but I didn't have to take the jacket off to do that. The waterproofing has kept me dry in snowstorms and rain so far whenever I've worn it.

Value: You get what you pay for

While expensive, this jacket is worth it. I loathe the loud swish swish swish of a cheap rain jacket, so I knew I needed to level up after moving to Seattle. I did a lot of research, comparing alternatives in this price range. I bought the Black Diamond Fineline because it was the most recommended across multiple sites. I regretted it immediately upon feeling the jacket, recalling the very nice feel of this in store. I returned that and bought this, then immediately went out on a 6 mile hike. This is definitely the one. No stickiness inside, no swishing outside. Great venting. Absolutely worth it if you want a jacket you don't hate taking out of the closet.

Great summer rain jacket

This jacket is lightweight and the most breathable rain jacket I have ever owned. It’s the perfect rain jacket for the summer. Although no jacket will ever be 100% breatheable - I was impressed. If you’re looking for a summer lightweight travel rain jacket, this is your perfect find. The design is really cool as well.

It works and does its job right.

I brought this Jacket to a trip to Alaska where i was faced with a mix between light and heavy rain and heavy winds. I was torn between the REI Rainier Raincoat but I wasn’t crazy about how the inner material felt. This jacket did not disappoint and was worth the extra $90. It kept me dry and protected from the wind. The rain was beading up on the coat and rolling off. It was light and roomy so there’s enough space underneath to layer up. The pit zips are great addition to vent and cool off. The jacket can even be stored into its own pocket in zipped up if you like that sort of thing. This jacket has now become a staple for my hiking/backpacking gear and I would recommend it to anyone.

I really like this jacket. Packable, super light weight, waterproof, plenty of pockets, and lots of other features you won’t find on other jackets. It isn’t cheap but well worth the price in my opinion if you can swing it
